the new macbook air is nice and all but the xps1330 is more pro then the air, so im not even considering it because of the lame graphics, so i go back to the Macbook Pro, that is professional , will a new one come out in next month or two?

Maybe in June or July, which in 2007 is when Apple dished out the Santa-Rosa line of MacBook Pro's. So we'll have to wait and see if the MBP's get a bump in summer of 2008. :(

Why wait? Any upgrade to the MB Pro will not be huge, probably just incremental. They now have the LED screen too - if you must buy, now's as good a time as any.

    I feel your pain.

However, the current version of the MBP is awesome anyway. In the summer, chances are they'll only update the processor to the Penryn line, or maybe the Montevinia (spelling?) line.

Hrm, I don't see Apple releasing a black MBP... would be nice, but I don't see that happening. But yeah, the main reason I'd wait for the update is possible new video card and much higher FSB speed.
Maybe even quad core by then :p

They might put a new video card in it, in 6 to 8 months. Maybe a quad core - but it's doubtful. Apple doesn't make radical changes quickly. They picked the video card they did because it'll last at least a year, but they'll probably stretch it to 18 months.

I have a very fast dual-core in my desktop that I see no compelling reason to upgrade to a quad - it would make zero difference with the stuff I do. A faster FSB makes no difference.

Seriously, there is no reason to wait. Summer is too far away.

I was hoping they'd announce an updated MacBook Pro today, but they didn't. Which means you'll have to wait pretty long for a substantial update. So buy it now.

Don't bank of an announcement of an update. It will be done just like the Mac Pro update was done last week. No announcement except for on the web page.

I was considering going to my first MacBook Pro if Apple released a new updated version in black like was rumored but I'm not gonna throw down $2k+ now on a laptop that is the same as it was several months ago. If i buy something new i want something new.

But it would have made sense to announce it today if it was going to be something bigger than an incremental update I think.

It could be around April or May with the Penryn update. I highly doubt they would upgrade the graphics. That's my guess.

Just remember that they come out when they come out. As always, if you're waiting for the next big thing in technology, you'll be waiting forever. With Apple, it's even harder because they are notoriously silent about product updates. Anyone who tells you otherwise is simply speculating.

Choose the machine that suits your needs now and buy it. I promise, it will continue to suit your needs, even after a new model comes out.

I think Apple is using the the Macbook Air to test out the multi-touch trackpad. If it is successful, they will implement it in the the Pro line as well. An update could come any day, but this summer at the latest.
