hey guys , did a search and didnt see a thread about this.
i just bought a new MBP and it will be here monday 4/10/06. (ordered 4/5/06!!) and i play only a few games, but the biggest one would have to be WoW (world of warcraft) . now i only have the windows disks - the DVD version - will i be able to install this directly on the mac? or do i have to buy a new disk ? i heard that the new patch makes it universal binary - but i dont know if i can just intall the windows disks and have it update itself - or can i download the MAC version somewhere?

and does anyone know how well it runs either in native MAC osX or in bootcamp? thanks in advance!

Just download BootCamp, burn it to a CD and follow the instructions on the disc/Apple's site.

Games on a Mac cost a small of money to buy though - they're about $10-$30 more than Windows counterparts. :(

Search for a slipstream guide (nLite) to make a CD with SP2.

It doesn't matter whether or not the CD is original, just that you have a certified CD-key.

You're right just looked at it. Plus, the first thing he linked to was not the game itself, but the WoW game guide book. This is the link to the actual game on Best Buy (same price as Apple store and says right in the description "Mac/Windows"): Link

That's correct, just cause apple sells it for more at their own store doesn't mean its a different version for mac and pc  . there is only one version out there and it installs on both pcs and macs.

I think it's really cool that WoW makes it Mac/PC. Maybe all the game developers will do the same, that way you don't have to re-buy the game.

Yeah I would be interested in this. I wonder if wow plays better in "pc mode" on the laptop vs the mac mode on the same laptop.

ok well i installed WoW on the MBP and got about 30 FPS in ironforge. i didnt intall bootcamp cause i really didnt need anything from windows - because i haev a windows desktop already

while moving around i got anywhere from 20 to 55 FPS - this is on the default setting when i installed the game

so about medium i guess , still looks great.

Hey not to hyjack your thread or anything, but when do you think WOW will drop the charges for online gaming? I mean you already pay $50 for it. Any of you guys think Blizzard will drop the monthly charges and let everyone play for free?

they never will. MMORPG's are based around people paying a monthly fee, so they update the servers, make patches, listen to the peoples concerns etc...every tuesday is maintenance, patches are not too frequent, they have their own dedicated forums, they need to pay GMs in game, customer service..etc.. they will never get rid of the fees..and jeez $15 a month...in NyC that is just about having lunch once..

$50 for the game is the norm..and so is $15 per month...MMORPGs ARE worth the money, if you have the time to play it...but too much, and its an addiction.

    pb,out.

    flight2

    flight3

    ironforge in busy area

for some reason not everything shows up on my screenshots , but they are all there in game.

oh and boot camp was too much of a hassle. i did install it but then couldnt get some drivers to work so just took it off - woW works fine without anyways - and i m hoping someone will be able to increase the clock speed of the ati 1600 in mac os x - if you know how and its safe please tell me =)
