Is there a noticable difference between the 128 and 256 x1600? I know VRAM is not the most important part of graphics, but I am curious if there is a big performance jump. I am going to get an MBP next week and this is a big part of which I get. Is it worth the extra $500? I highly doubt it, but curious nonetheless.

That would depend on your intended use. X1600 is a card that can really use the additional 128MB. Unless you are a hardcore gamer or use graphics intensive apps, a 128MB X1600 should be sufficient.
