the zalman looks clunky, is it comfortable to put in your lap hwen your sitting down or is it more a desktop only thing? i've also read that it doesn't work very well with mbp for whatever reason, comments?

I have used with windows based laptops and found it uncomfortable on my lap. I works great on a desk though.

Yeah I had it for my Alienware and it worked really well. It does a great job of spacing out the air for under your system. Plus, the fans blow quietly and pretty cold. I recently sold my Alienware for the MBP though and now I'm going to be replacing that for another cooler, preferably one made for widescreen notebooks. The MBP hangs off the sides of the thing and is to short to fit on the rubber so I get worried about scratches. It is a great notebook cooler, but just not what I'm looking for for my MBP. I'm ordering a new one this week ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834999017). You could also just get one made for a 17" notebook, that would probably be fine too.
