Hello, all.
I looked through the reccomended forums and done some serious Google searching, but couldn't find an answer to the question I have...
A while ago my G50Vt's fan was clicking. I thought it was just one of the loose screw platings rattling against the case, but now that I think about it...it could have been the fan.
Anyways, I noticed that my PC was overheating, and the fan not starting was the problem. I bought a replacement fan and replaced it with no luck.
I took it to a couple of PC shops to no avail. One of the shops was able to confirm that the fan was working (By using it in another PC), so I'm wondering if it's the Controller/mobo...
My question, to avoid making a $300+ investment...is one of the tech support guys mentioned having luck with cutting the Blue wire from the fan so that the PC will constantly keep the fan on, no matter what. Does anyone think this would work in my situation? Is there an easy way to see if there's a way to check if my fan port is giving power? (Don't have a multimeter on hand.) I don't think cutting the blue fan wire would help me in my situation, but does anyone else know if it would?
TL;DR: My fan stopped runnning. I replaced it, it still doesn't start up. Someone from a PC shop told me that cutting the blue wire on the fan may help. Could he be correct?
