Every day i like to move myself from the desk to my bed and i need to unplug my Laptop for that. The thing is every time i unplug my laptop it kinda... gets unstable. Windows? cores? Vcard? i don't know what it is but a while after unplugging my laptop locks up, mouse won't move and the fans start to blow rapidly. Then i do a hard boot but it results in random locups on ASUS logo, Windows logo, safe mode menu, on deskop or not boot at all and if it DOES boot and seems stable, it locks up after like 30 min later.

I bought my laptop somewhere end last year and this has been happening most of the time. The only way i could fix it every time is just by rebooting a lot after holding the power button 30 sec, not that i know it helps, i just read somewhere that it could help but today it didn't...

I sought a solution on the web way too long and i'm fed up with this.
    Please help =/

The description of your problem is a bit generic and hard to help you with just that info alone.

Have you updated any drivers? What version are your BIOS and VBIOS?

Have you tried running a disk check?

How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk) - Windows 7

Check your hard disk for errors

Have you tried running memtest86+ through a few passes to see if you have any memory errors?

Are you running any antivirus software?

    BIOS 211
    vBIOS 012.020.000.032.0383.G730

Yesterday i updated my ATI video driver.
    I am running ESET NOD32

    EDIT: I'll try the rest.
    EDIT: pass 1 no errors.

Ok 2nd pass also no errors. Did the CHKDSK and the hard disc seems fine.

Try running memtest86+. Also look through your event log and see if you have any critical errors around the time the laptop locked up.

There is no reason to do multiple passes through chkdsk if you don't have any errors reported, that's just a general troubleshooting first step to take care of before moving on.

You may want to try removing power4gear since you said it tends to happen while unplugging the power. That could point to a power management issue.

I have done them, everything seems fine. Btw, where are the event logs stored?

THIS makes a lot of sense, im gonna try this out. I'll report back if it happens again.

Thx a lot for the help! The memtest and disc check took more than 2 hours, i was really frustrated and happy at the same time since they didn't report any errors so i thought it was a waste of time
But now i don't mind cause i learned 2 new things and i really appreciate it :)

Thumbs up for you mister! :D

Generally one full pass of memtest86+ is good enough if you are sitting waiting on it. If you let it run through 3+ passes that is ideal but you'd need to leave it and not really wait for it because it'll be like watching paint dry.

Event viewer will have a system log, look for errors and critical warnings around the time that the lockups occur: Open Event Viewer

There may not be anything there from right around the time of a lockup since it may never get to log the error, but there may be some clues anyway.

    bump: Return of the lockups

    Hi again
Looks like it did't fix at all, but it did took a while before it happened again...
So after some time from last lockups ive been working on the desk.
Yesterday i decided to go in bed with my laptop so i plugged it out, crawled in bed, plugged it in, then after some time it locked up again... So i hard booted, 5 min later, again, hard booted, seemed stable, called it a night.
Right now, i turned my laptop on and it froze on the desktop, so i hard booted and froze at a black screen, turned my laptop off, unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it seems stable again as i can write this post :p

At startup a windows notification pops up:
    Code:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name:	BlueScreen
      OS Version:	6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
      Locale ID:	1033

    Additional information about the problem:
      BCCode:	124
      BCP1:	0000000000000004
      BCP2:	FFFFFA8007B968D8
      BCP3:	0000000000000000
      BCP4:	0000000000000000
      OS Version:	6_1_7601
Dunno if this helps, any ideas?
