How long can the G73JH last being on all the time? Can it go a week without shutting down?

Im just letting it stay on to download some stuff via torrent and I would like to know how many days is safe of it being on without like say damaging the motherboard?

I leave mine on for long period of times all the time, upto weeks. Once I notice it's not running the same I shut it down for a few hrs. But I'm working on it pretty much all day and night mon-fri.

However, I repasted my CPU and GPU and clean my fans regularly so it's just a matter of taking care of it.

Just asking, how did you clean your fan? Using Compressed Air or disassemble the whole thing?

I didn't have my paste redone, would this make a big difference?

Leaving it on all the time will mainly just cause the fans to gather more dust. When the stock paste degrades to the point that you idle at 114C and shuts down, then I guess you'll know then that you need a repaste.

I restart only for drivers upgrades, leaving all the time on or sleeping, but never off for weeks.

I turn mine off when I'm done using it. I take mine to school so I usually turn it off and on a couple times but when I get home it's usually on the rest of the day until I go to sleep. I see no reason to keep it on when it's not in use, startup on the G73 is like 20 seconds so meh.

I have a desktop main rig, my retired main rig becomes my 24/7 server (currently a Core2Duo setup w/ 2G and a bunch of HDDs), and my lappy.

My idle is on 60's and I am not leaving my G73 turned on for the whole time. After I used it, I turned it off.
Don't leave your G73 for a whole week without turning it off. It's not a desktop that has a high tolerance from shutting down. Laptop is still a laptop.

My idle is 46ºc and I don't leave mine on 24/7 but I do put it to sleep rather than shutting it down. I'd say with your temps a re-paste is a must and a vbios mod won't hurt(if your gpu can handle it) to allow 2D clocks to lower your vram as well. I notice a 12º drop just from lowering my ram to 400 in 2D mode.

So what exactly would I risk if I won't repaste? Could my gpu burn? I really don't know anything about repasting and I would prefer not do it if it is not absolutely necessary.

Mine idling about 52 to 53C, max with Fur Mark at 86C.

    I think you need repaste.

your temperature is bordering very close to the 110C allowable threshold of the chip. It's not very healthy and will reduce its lifespan greatly.

depends on the vbios for idle. Mine used to idle at 65-ish.

Also, I leave mine on 24/7. Why? Why not?
