Is the G73JH 24pin FFC cable costum made to fit G73JH? Or will any 24pin 0.5MM FFC cable work?
I have never dealt with FFC cables before, actually and I don't really know what to expect.

An original G73JH FFC 24 pin cable will cost me about 8 EU($10) + 21 EU($27) Freight. In total 29EU($38).
    ( Asus, 14G124040241,G73_SATA_FFC 0.5,24P,43.5MM - Asusparts)

While an regular 24pin 0.5MM FFC cable will cost me just about 6EU($8) plus freight and is slightly longer.

(would link the English page but the site is under maintenance)

Sorry for spelling errors it's 3:30 AM here and I can't think straight.

Did some research and found out that any kind of 24 pin 0,5MM FFC with connector type D should work.

EDIT: WROTE CONNECTOR 'TYPE A' WHICH IS WRONG!!!
SATA FFC IN ASUS G73JH IS A 'D TYPE'.

That's a crazy price for a replacement cable. I have a couple of these from G73's that I've parted out. Where are you located? Send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Actually the crazy part of the price is the shipping. ~10$ for a cable isn't cheap, but not what I'd consider prohibitive either, the total with shipping is kinda prohibitive though.

I have to agree for something that would fit in a padded envelope with some cardboard support :/

Good old digikey, I used them to get the parts for my uni project, reasonable world wide shipping they do too.

want to post a update, got my 0,5MM 24pin 'A type' connector.

And g73jh didn't want to boot.

After a few hours of paranoia I noticed something important,

    From the site
    Asus, 14G124040241,G73_SATA_FFC 0.5,24P,43.5MM - Asusparts

It's written: G73_SATA_FFC 0.5,24P,43.5MM (Which basically mean that it's the proper FFC for the G73).

And the picture they use is:
    asusparts.jpg

and the picture is clearly a 'Type A' connector.

So I ordered one following the picture from asusparts.

After trying out the cable today which didn't work. I got a feeling that either the small sata brick is damaged or the cable is wrong.

Searched through a few pages on google and found this.

The g73jh FFC is in fact a 'D' type.

I guess I got to mod the 'A type' connector with sandpaper.

Where you able to solve the FCC problem by modding the Type A cable?
