so i have ordered the OCZ Vector 150 128gb for 50 pounds
when it arrives i just need to take the first hdd and put the ssd and mount the caddy right ? no additional adapters or cables needed ?
should i make the partition with software like acronis disk director or straight away create the partition under windows installation

also first thing i should do is disable prefech superfech service ?

    oh one more thing
is there a way to put the ssd in the place of the optical drive

It is as simple as putting the SSD in the caddy and plugging it in. Partition with Windows during the install process, if you clone, the software will do it for you. Prefetch, superfetch, etc. all know to take care fo themselves, no need to touch them.

Finally, yes, there is a way to put the SSD in the optical drive slot, but you'll need a caddy for that.

The metal bracket they come with usually is for converting them from 2.5" to 3.5" mounting for desktops.

Most of the speed is in the small file transfers from 0.01MB/sec to 40MB/sec to be fair ;)
