has anyone from the unlucky persons who doesnt' have SSD tried to create Stripped volume (i know it is possible to do from Windows 7)

will it have better benefit in speed and is it possible to be made with 2 HDD (if the first HDD contain the OS)

i have always wondered this but never tried it

waiting for some experienced user on this subject to explain it to me

p.s check out this link and tell me what you think

I am sure there were some posts a while back about software Raid on the JH but I dont think the results were very healthy or showed an increase worthy of the effort.

I will try and find them if no one else adds anything to this post. Lazy Asus should be including a RAID controller such a simple facility when you have two HDD in a 17 inch desktop replacement.

Oh no that was before my times lol I seem to remember quite a long discussion about software Raiding up a JH but I think it was aimless banter. A lot like this haha

It is probably going to be one of those times you try and see :) but I dont think you will see the benefit sadly. I had two SATA II SSD in my JH at one point identical, shame you didn't ask back before it was jacked off me!

hey have you checked the link in the first post

Yes I read what he put and I know it has been done in the past I just do not think you will see the performance gain that you would from a proper RAID 0 setup. You also need to get hold of two identical SSD for your JH unless you intend to use HDD which will not produce any better than what one single SSD can. I think that is why it has not been tried as most just get an SSD and a HDD for storage.

    look at the benchmark mate

first picture is the OS second is the stripped volume + also he shrinked the volume to gain more speed ? if i could understand corectly

am i the only one believing in this lol
