So since I recently bought Bad Company 2 on the Steam sale and couldn't take the long map loading times I found out that a fix was bundled with one of the latest ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 driver packages. I have withhold updating my vBIOS since it worked perfectly with the ASUS bundled ATI drivers (I had a fauly vBIOS which caused the grey lines crashes with newer drivers).

I flashed the vBIOS successfully with the guide here >> http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/539984-what-do-your-new-g73jh.html

Anyway, updating to latest ATI drivers ( 10-12_mobility_vista_win7_32-64_ccc.exe ) works, and I can play and everything with the new vBIOS. Though now I can't seem to get any image in movie playback in media players using the new EVR DirectShow Renderer in Windows 7. Infact, not even VMR-7 or VMR-9 seems to work in most cases. Only VMR-7 (windowed) works in Media Player Classic.

Applications affected is practically every media player using the default DirectShow output renderer, like MPC, VLC, WMP.

Any clue what so ever what might cause this error? I'm going to a three days LAN in the morning (12:12 am here right now) so I would love to fix it if possible. VMR-7 works at the very least...

Turns out that the 'amazing' ATI drivers wasn't as perfect as I've been told. A reboot was required to bring them back to their full functionality, including the EVR and other DirectShow renderers.

    SOLVED.
