    Hello Mates,

Had my Asus g75vw offline for 2 weeks, when it came on last night there were 8 Windows updates. Download, restart.

After startup it shows this 'configuring updates' but takes unusual 20minutes so I thought its frozen. I turn it off manually.

I turn it on and... nothing. Black screen. I cant access bios and Windows is not loading. I can see the battery is on for some time and turns off itself after 10s or so.

Any ideas what to start with?

Take out battery and unplug power cable. Push power button a few times. Wait 30 seconds and plug both back in and try again.

I tried generic reset with holding the power button but it failed.
I tried to boot from repair disk- nothing.

    Can't access BIOS.

Did you try to unplug all other things? USB, Audio, Monitor, ....?
You should at least see the BIOS logo when turning it on.

Yes Mate, tried all of the ones you mentioned. I can't access Bios either by f2 or any other key and f9- asus repair partition. It's a strange one!

I realize that a crashed system update might be fatal- like during overwriting kernel files?

But do you see a bios post screen while turning it on, or does it remain black the whole time?

It remains black, no bios whatsoever.

That sounds really bad, I mean really really bad.
Do you maybe have an external screen? Just to see if you will get a post if you connect it. Otherwise I fear it's time for RMA :(

Try reseating the memory modules. If that doesn't work, remove all but one and try booting. If that doesn't work, swapped out the next module until you've tried booting with each one.

If that still doesn't work, remove the power cable and battery, then clear CMOS. I don't know where the battery is, and I don't see a reset hole on my VX, so you might want to check for a service manual or disassembly guide.

You can also try removing all devices possible such as hard drives, optical drive, and expansion cards, but I've rarely seen that help.
