Downloading 10.8 right now, will update to 10.8 + beta vBIOS and play some games...
-
Just flashed the beta with my own clocks. So far what i'm really liking is that in highperformance it downclocks on its own. I can't test it since i'm at work.
-
i need help my asus g73 bios is 211 and do i need to put it back to 209 to use the vbios beta? HELp me plz
-
Ok, I repaired the link
If You Are Running 211, You Need To Use EZFlash In The BIOS To Flash Down To 209. WinFlash Will Not Work.
Oh and Gary bricked a machine tonight using WinFlash to flash a vBIOS.So important safety tip, use the DOS Utility ONLY.
He also tells me his Hairy Donuts come out fine and don't gsod. I want one of his working machines. :meh: -
thanks for the help
-
used your batch file and atiflash. worked perfectly -
All Glory To The Hairy Doughnut!!!
-
In the command prompt after the vbios update, how do we reboot?
-
-
-
One thing, its update.bat not upgrade.bat
- I forgot what the filename was when I booted onto the drive and read the instructions on my iPhone and it was saying bad filename, went and looked at it and saw it was update.bat
.
Also, anyway to double check the vBios version? -
Well, I didn't brick it so I guess all's well! I'll start with 10.7a and go from there.
-
You can check vBIOS version in GPU-Z easily, or HWINFO. -
Unistalled 10.8, safe mode for Driver Sweep, and did a full install of 10.7a Hotfix. My Hairy Donut is running stable now at stock speeds. There is something about that All-In-One Driver package does that the normal monthly release packages doesn't. It even correctly changed the Cat to 10.7 in CCC. So I am going to flip the bird at ATI, and go to bed. I need sleep.
00:12:06 and still going... -
/salute -
Odd, the "10-8_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_enu" I downloaded from ATI's site didn't really update my drivers, but the one from AMD - "10-8_mobility_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc" updated em fine.
Edit: And of course, thank you Chastity! If I could +rep you again, I would, but I have to spread it around first.

Go to her 3rd sig link and follow the directions, it's pretty simple. Download 2 files, install one, select couple options and click
.
-
bootable flash is just a flash stick with FAT formating right??????
-
-
-
I smell a new step by step flashing thread
-
my flash drive is 8gb and it fat32 as default and it on quick format and the files for beta vbios is on my flash drive
-
I feel pretty stupid now -
so can anyone tell me the easy way lol ;P
-
Edit: ok..
Download HP USB tool and Win 98 Boot Files
Install the HB USB tool, and extract the win98boot files to a folder
Run the HP USB tool, select Fat 32, and Create a DOS Startup disk, using files located at.... and browse to the folder you extracted the win98boot file.
Press start. done. Now copy over files as before and proceed! -
-
oh man we have to make a win98 DOS startup usb stick?! then put the files on... i dont get it either.
if someone has time and patience to do a like
1. download this utility
2. reboot press esc, go to this blah blah
just a really quick kinda thing on how to do the process from a usb stick to updating the vbios -
Hm.
On BIOS 209, and the new vBIOS (012.020.000.032.037764 according to GPU-Z) and after a bit of playing Combat Arms, I received a BSOD (Black screen of death) out of nowhere. No flickering or black bars before the crash, but a TON of screen tear (Combat Arms is a pretty crappy game, that's probably why).
I'll test on a few other games and see what happens.
Oh, betas. -
-
1) Stick the USB drive into your computer.
2) Download the HP USB tool and the win98boot files.
3) Run the HP USB tool and in the window that pops up, make sure it says "FAT32" and that your USB is the device selected. Then, check the Quick Format and Create DOS startup disk boxes, browse to the win98boot file directory, and hit OK. -
no i never did this stuff before. but really want to update, i cant even play any games.
all computers i have had/built just worked haha. -
I'm just saying because it has been answered in this thread 3 times now. Even on the same page you posted.
-
My idle temps are pretty good! 59C right now. Still, that BSOD bugs me. I'll keep testing. I had VSYNC in CCC on to help with the tearing, but it didn't help. I just enabled Tripple Buffering in CCC so we'll see.
I'm going to run Unigine Heaven once it's finished downloading. -
I'm wondering if I change the OD vbios's name from what it is to "G73OD.rom" will it still work because my bootable can't find it(with the original name when flashing) due to the name length.
-
i know i know haha wasnt getting it, that wa another guy.thanks anyway! thanks Kaelang that helps tons!!
-
WOOT!!!
it work and i have the new VBIOS THX guys and now im going to install ati 10.8 and hope it works XD wish me luck
-

In regards to FurMark, been testing it all day and so far no problems on my end with BIOS 0209, 10.8 drivers, and the beta vBIOS.
My thoughts on Furmark are already well known but to each his own I guess.
I have engineering looking at a couple of minor updates but after reverting back to 0209 all of my problems with Mafia II and Metro 2033 went away. I think this vBIOS is solid enough to release as a beta. We will track problems and incorporate this information into the next release. In the meantime, I will create a release package with all of the files and an instruction sheet for release in the morning. -
anyone update new vbios and have it working 10.7a or 10.8 and happy right now????
-
im going to install it right now the ati 10.8 and going to test call of duty mwf2 and star craft 2
-
thanks gary. appreciate it.
good job, good work, we all are thankful!
i think the majority of people here will have more fun testing around with a beta than they would have with a final release
I dont know any better so i will be happy if 10.8 + starcraft 2 works
---> GARY: you an dI were discussing my laptop that GSODed on all drivers, but after i manually repasted with IC diamond 7, i have not had GSOD on stock drivers. i think there was some sort of major heat issues, or some issue (GSOD) related to heat even at the 95-105 regions, but now stock is all good. so thanks for your help, but for now other than GSODs on other drivers i am good -
-
hey ziddy, your HellCry is showing.
-
Installed the Overdrive Vbios. So far no issues...now on to Repasting...didn't want to do that before Vbios in case the bios bricked it....
