    Hi folks,

I was going to plugin in my music headsets to the headset plug of my laptop which is next to one of my USB ports and the headset pin accidently made contact with my USB port entrance. As a result this produced a power outage of my laptop.

Now, I thought oops my computer crashed, but it is even worth, I can't restart it, the power button or express launch button do not respond.

I am without laptop now and since I have valuable information on it, I wish to know if anyone know how to fix such serious issue.

    Thanks in advance,

    Fred.

Take the battery out and unplug the ac adapter. Let it sit for a minute. Put the battery back in and you should then be able to power it back on.

Yeah, it powered off because the USB port shorted, as long as your port still works, your computer should be fine. :)

Taking the battery & ac out resets the EC (embedded controller) which manages power states on your laptop. That is why that trick works for this.
