Hi All,
Couple months ago, I decided to uninstall the creative driver and software from my G73JH. Then, I installed Realtek R249 (including the HDMI driver).
Yesterday, I read the forum and found that using some settings doesnt give any crash. So, I decided to reinstall the creative driver and software. Well, I did notice that the bass quality is less using the realtek driver rather than the creative one.
I removed any realtek drivers, used driver cleaner (and driver sweeper), installed the audio driver and creative software using the ASUS DVD included in the package, and it's completed. But when I launched the Creative Audio Center, I missed 3 buttons (there's only Speaker and Mixer button, no CMMS, etc). Why??? Did I miss something?
Another info, when I tried to enable the boost from Creative Audio Center, the creative software crashed.![]()
Please anybody, help me!

Doesn't the Creative driver operate on top of the Realtek driver? I don't think it works by itself...
-
Tried Daniel_K modification and didn't work either. -
-
meh, just go to realteks site and dl the latest drivers.
LINK
got the creative debugging thread in my sig and some other useful stuff. -

How to Install Audio Drivers with Creative Addon and Recent Realtek 2.5x:
Grab an older version, like the stock ones, or 2.43. Uninstall any Realtek you have now. Install the old Realtek Driver. Install Creative addon. Uninstall old Realtek drivers. Install current Realtek drivers (like 2.50). Party! -
Here's what I mean: the CAC only shows two buttons, no EAX setting etc...
And in the bass setting dialog, it does seem strange! there's no text before the slide controls. And when I click the Bass Boost or move the sliders, it just crash
Any ideas? -
Uninstall all audio drivers and teh Creative package. Reboot, and run CCleaner's registry sweep and Driver Sweeper for Creative and Realtek Sound. (You can do this is safe mode if you wish) Reboot and then start the install process again.
I have Realtek 2.50 installed with Creative and I have all the Audio Console options. -

???
It doesn't work bro... Even, it's been worst. The Audio Center is somewhat doesn't recognize the Audio Hardware
It pops up "There are no supported hardware bla bla bla" when the Audio Center fired up. But, the sound is there though. I don't know whether it's bad QC from ASUS, wrong installation method by me (though I believe it should be as simple as double clicking the setup file and follow it till it's finished), or (I don't know even the others possibilities)?
I am a developer myself, but facing this ASUS Creative problem make me feel that I'm so dumb right now, really.
It's working before with freezes then I uninstalled all of it. I'm not sure if upgrading the BIOS to 209 made the Audio Hardware doesn't recognized by Creative Software... hufffttt...
Any Other Ideas??? -
It's the drivers. The 2.5x do not show up as they are modified for Creative's MB applications. This is why you need to first install an older version of the driver, say 2.47, install Creative app, then uninstall the 2.47 driver, then install latest (2.51) Then you'll have it working.
The Creative installer isn't properly recognizing the newer Realtek drivers. We really do need need an updated MB installer. -
hmmmmm, ASUS... ASUS... -
hmm, does creative audigy bass works? I tried enabling it and slide that dbs and I couldn't tell any difference.
-
. i un installed the stock creative drivers. then the realtek ones. then i installed the new realtek drivers, and when i tried to install the creative ones from the asus site, i got an error on the lines of hardware not detected or somin like that. can you also provide the creative addon (the stock one)
-

can you supply me with one?
ok now i have a new problem. i found the correct creative drivers. howevr when i try to install them, i receive an error. it happens instantly. any way to fix this? i just want to hear my sub work. is there anyway dfx can help? -
This thread contains a link to the original driver disk in ISO format. First remove whatever Creative and Realtek you have installed. Then install the ones from the disk. Then update Realtek to the latest. You should be able to enable the subwoofer.

Hope that helps. -
GSOD Resource link below has the Driver ISO links.

thanks chastity and jody. the drivers worked 2. took ages to download though. the sound worked fine. bass finally came on.

My G73Jh + Creative problem. I am using fresh system 7 ULTIMATE x64, for ca. 5 months (coudn't stand y ATI driver update). For long time I used only Realtek drivers, but the subwoofer was playing poor. Now I'd like to install Creative addon. But every time I try to install Creative_Audigy_WIN7_32_WIN7_64_z10 I get"setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system". I tried to use Realtek 2.65 2.56 and 2.43, same .
I would't care much before, but now it's getting sort of obsession for me to make this f.. subwoofer sound smooth. HELP!!!!!!! -
If you have it just run the Asus program and install the creative software through the disc utility and not manually and it will install on top of the realtek driver and say you need to reset.
I have tried everything all type of manual downloads, different realtek drivers and the XFI stuff and that ^ is the only thing that works for me.
If you dont have the JH driver application disc you will need to download it from Chastity Driver application reference but it took me 2 weeks as its a bit slow atmI could probably upload it for you if needby.

Another issue I found a while ago, after playing with an MB1 trial of the Creative software, there is a folder under Program File(x86) that needs to be deleted if you installed a different Creative version. For the life of me, I cannot remember the path, but it had something to do with InstallShield, and I assume it contains license info, hence why I personally had the problems with it. I spent roughly 2-3 days fighting with it (after work) and finally got it working after dumping that folder.
-
Yup I finally got Creative 1.0 installed over the latest Realtek drivers last night and the difference in sound is very noticeable once you tweak the Bass and EQ in the control panel and that little sub does indeed make a difference. -
You honestly should use the Creative X-Fi software with the newest realtek drivers... There is a license file generator that needs to be run to create the license files under C:\ProgramData\Creative\SoftwareLock. Those license files are actually what makes the Creative software pick up the fact that it's licensed and working properly with the Realtek drivers.
I actually had some issues with the Creative software prior to a Windows reinstall, and to get the Creative software working properly, I removed the creative application then went into regedit and deleted all of the references to Creative related software/services. I then performed the Creative X-Fi software install, went to safe mode, ran the license key generator script, booted to normal mode, and everything worked flawlessly.
I'm currently running the Creative X-fi MB 2 software version which also includes THX support (although the Realtek chipset in the G73JH doesn't support it). The software has the same x-fi volume control applications though as the earlier Creative X-fi software and the same license file generator application works fine for creating licenses for the newest Creative x-fi software.
I'll definitely agree though, having Creative software installed makes things sound considerably better than just the base Realtek drivers even if getting the Creative software working takes a bit of work and understanding of how the Creative license files get generated.
I also didn't have to use the latest driver disk after I recently ran a re-install of Windows to address issues that somehow caused my Fn hotkeys to stop working properly. I installed windows fresh, updated my Intel chipset/mass storage controller drivers, installed a modified Realtek 2.62 driver, and then installed the Creative X-fi MB 2 package that I found. After install, I booted to safe mode, ran the software license generator, and rebooted to Windows. Everything worked perfectly. -
@Dallers
Would you be so kind and upload both creative and realtek drivers from CD on RapidShare or whatever ? Would also be wise and very helpful for every G73jh user to write the link to these files with huge red capital letters in both this topic and the one you mentioned before! Would help many people! -
But if you want the actual ISO of the G73JH driver application disc I can upload it if needby. -
The G73 ISO is actually also on the application reference page. I personally would argue that there's very little on that disk that's needed.
The only item on the disk that needs to be installed that way is the Intel monitor application/gadget that shows CPU usage. -
-
The factory drivers/Creative somehow create the necessary keys that are created by the "Activator" process which I've detailed in my recent Creative XFi MB2 post with the Realtek 2.62 modded driver. It works perfectly from a fresh G73JH install, but the only reason that you may have issues with a fresh install is if you didn't run the activator process.
I remember now about the slow download on the ISO, but yeah, I think I just grabbed it overnight a while back.
Just figured I'd explain why you had issues with the installs without doing the initial install off the CD. -
-
Heh, I use an MSDN copy of Windows 7 Ulitmate myself
I'm a Senior Systems Architect for a fairly large IT Outsourcing provider by trade, so I tend to be overly obsessive about these things.
I had the same problems you are mentioning though, and what it came down to was that those "key" files which are hardware dependent get generated by the install off the CD if you do the driver install and Creative install together. That does work for sure. I have however worked for ages with the different Creative software, and had a hellish time making it work after my previous fresh Windows install using the modded 2.48 package and X-Fi MB software.
Well, what it came down to was those license files weren't there in the new install. When I copied them from my previous install's folders (had gotten a new hard drive) I didn't even have to reboot... The Creative software just immediately worked.
The Creative software definitely looks for hardware specific information in those keyfiles in the programdata\Creative\softwarelock folder, and if it sees what it's looking for, it just works. Otherwise, you get the dreaded "no supported device" error.
I just figured I'd expand on the cause/fix of the issue.
Ultimately, the keygen provided with either the 2.48 modded package or the package I recently posted, when run as admin in safe mode will create and copy the necessary files over. After that's done, rebooting into normal mode will give you working Creative stuff (unless your Creative software is just hosed in which case you need to clean out your registry and try again).
I appreciate your input into the forum, and don't take any of my posts as criticism. I like what you bring here and just wanted to offer my help since I've had so many issues getting the Creative stuff to work and finally truly understand it. -
I am not taking any of your posts as criticism just if something simple works perfectly I dont see why I should bother changing it when I have only been met with problems using XFI and I am not the only one which is why others want to use the Creative 1.0 drivers as well. My software knowledge is a lot less upto scratch compared to my hardware knowledge, I could probably build a supercomputer but the bugger wouldn't boot up thats for sure
I could spend time fiddling around to get it to work but even the old skool Creative software comes with plenty of options and at the end of the day I just want my sub working the rest is just gimmicks -
The install of windows does not really matter. When I encountered the install-shield folder issues, I was installing on a work copy of win 7 x64 enterprise. Uninstall everything, use driversweeper in safe mode, ccleaner the crap out of the registry, and dig for that InstallShield folder I mentioned. I cannot remember its path, but even after a good ccleaner, doing a registry search, I found the path, but it took some serious digging. This should only be required if you installed a different version of xfi mb, such as the trial or the hacked MB2 software, as the license files are dumped in that InstallShield directory I think.
After deleting that folder, and doing all the cleaning listed above, you should be able to install the Realtek drivers from the disk, then the creative software from the disk. Please note, I have the Bestbuy version and had to download the ISO to make the disk too, but it works. -
