    Hello everyone.

After selling my G73, im in the market for something a little more compact preferably a G53. Came across this

    ASUS G53JW-A1 Republic of Gamers 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black) [G53JW-A1] - $950.00 :.

Now this seems a little too good to be true. Has anyone bought anything from this site? Can they be trusted?

P.S. They claim all their products are brand new and intact.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Interested as well. Can't seem to find much info about the website online? Nobody has ordered from them?

I couldn't find an address or a phone # on the site. Not a good sign. Definitely only pay be CC so you can dispute a charge.

Looks like the rest of the notebooks on the site are pretty normal in pricing. For some reason the G53 and G73 are classified under "Asus" instead of "Asus Notebooks". Both are $950.

Good info, but unfortunately all those reviews are <1 month old. This is interesting, there is undoubtedly something wrong here. Anytime something is too good to be true you have to be cautious. Several times I've failed to do this and gotten burned. The site doesn't look like Chinese scam site, it is well put together and organized, but there is still no easily found contact info available. Why is that? Where are they based? The link above is possible, but it could be planted by the very people who made the site.

Then you have to ask, why would someone sell a brand new G73SW for $950, surely a used one could sell for more on craigslist. If you buy from here, make sure your credit card company will back you up if it is fraudulent, and whatever you do, don't pay by paypal, then it is gone for good.

I would steer well clear of this. It's a generic site with a private registration, hosted on a free webhost - that's one problem. Another is that there is no contact info listed on their contact us page, or their shipping & returns page. The site has only been around since march 4th.

This site is probably a scam, and I would advise that you do not divulge any personal information, even if you are browsing & window shopping.

Those are all outstanding points and the recommended guidelines in ValkerieFire's posting should be followed.

Honestly, I wouldn't even try it, not worth the hassle. I certainly wouldn't buy from that site, looks way too fishy and doesn't even seem to use HTTPS as far as I can see.

Overall, my suggestion is to stay far away, and just stick to the sites you know are trustworthy.

If you did buy it, use a credit card and request a tracking number. Process a chargeback if they try to scam you.

I changed the title, I'll leave the URL there in the OP just in case anyone searches for it and finds this thread so they know it's shady. I think we're pretty much done here... ;)

You can check by looking at the registered company no and calling a number to check that it is a valid trader. I dont know what the number would be in the US but I always do this before purchasing online if it looks dodgy. I couldn't find one on their website so they are either complete scammers or they are selling stuff from the back of a lorry online.

Another way is to look at the website - how long would it take you to create that website using their blingthemes copyright at the bottom :) Stay well clear.

Also, using a credit card for the purchase. Your CC company can always reverse the charges if you get scammed.
