To get to the point I'm looking for a computer that is more reliable and has less crash issues I still have my Alienware Mx17 R3 for a year and a half now , and the card died (not being detected, attempt to reset the card failed) .. Computer still works without the card but It's a hassle trying to get a new card especially when your warranty ended and now they don't have the original cards for the R3 and I'm not including the earlier crashes I had with this computer software related.

I don't really care about FPS as long as the game is playable ( I play Panetside 2, MWLL, BF3 maybe BF4, might get Boardlands 2 soon, Warframe that's about it graphics is my 2nd priority).

I'm looking at the ASUS G75 in the best buy store for a bit now. I see great reviews
    Model: G750JW-BBI7N05

    Price:1249.00
Graphics Card: Nvida GTX 765m 2GB GDDR5 (dedicated)
Hard Drive: 1 TB 5400 RPM
Ram: 8GB upgradable to 32 GB
    Intel® 3rd Generation Core™ i7
Processor Speed 2.4GHz (with Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz)

My Alienware had a GTX 580M and I was fine with it well... until it died of course :). Im assuming the GTX 765M should be more than enough for on the go gaming.
I'm getting a two year warranty this time store warranty (just in case something happens)
Look easily customizable ( the Ram and Hard drive ports so It could be blazing fast).

Is there anything else I need to know about this computer before I buy It?

That's a good computer, but best buy still has the 3rd gen i7 in there. Why not get the 4th gen for the same price?

Also, you're going to pay tax on that bad boy,0 so there's a solid $100 extra on the price. NBD if you're already expecting that and have to buy from a big box store.

The 765m is more than adequate for the games you have listed, it will run them at high/ultra quality which theoretically, should make the gpu relevant for a couple years. There's also the issue of windows 8, do you want it? That OS alone kept me from buying through a retail store.

Also, I may be wrong on this, but I don't think the g75 is "upgrade friendly" as it's competition. I believe there's way too many screws and some of them different sizes just to get into the compartment. Also you mentioned the warranty, best buy's warranty is incredibly expensive.

The SQUARTRADE warranty that Amazon offers is much more reasonable and depending on who you order from through them, no tax.

Thanks for info :).The best buy one had 1 open Hard drive component and 4 RAM(2 easy access) components I'll just put an SSD drive and 16GB of RAM on this year for the speed. and for the warranty Does best buy offer the squaredtrade warranty as well?,( I'm trying to by it localy for college). I just looked and seems like the 4th gen is better in battery life but not really noticeable. I do question why windows 8 needs an app version of everything especially for this computer which I'll tolerate  but, I'm all ears if there's a way to downgrade it to windows 7 if it means better performance.

You can actually whack a GTX780M in the alienware, if it was the AMD 6990M issues you had you would also skip those.

    Instead of getting that G750JW on Bestbuy, I would recommend you consider this model (g750JX-TB71) Asus ROG G750JX-TB71 Notebook - 4th Generation (Haswell) Intel Core i7-4700HQ 3.40GHz, 16GB DDR3, 750GB HDD, 3GB Nvidia GTX770M, Blu-Ray, 17.3 Full HD Display, Windows 8 64-bit, 1-Year Asus ADP at TigerDirect.com

It's about $200 higher than the G750JW that you mentioned. But if you purchase the G750JW at Bestbuy, you have to pay extra $75 for sale tax (total would be $1325).
So if you spend $125 more and get the G750JX, which comes with 16GB of RAM and Bluray drive, especially you will get GTX 770M. There is also no sale tax, which helps save pretty much money for your pocket.

The upgrade to the 770M alone is worth it.

FWIW, I think the Best Buy ad copy is incorrect. AFAIK, NO G750 comes with an Ivy Bridge processor. They all have a Haswell cpu. And just about every place I've researched the specific model you mentioned says so:

    Asus G750JW-BBI7N05 i7 2GB NVIDIA GTX 765M 17.3"

    Coin Days - Asus - 17.3" Laptop G750JW-BBI7N05

    Asus G750JW-BBI7N05 Gaming Laptop Review

P.S. And what you are considering purchasing is a G750, not a G75. The G75 is the last (older) generation. :)

Yes no G750 is ivy bridge, the chipsets are different so you cant get the older CPUs in it.

Meaker, aren't there some current Asus models that don't support the Windows 7 downgrade? Thought I read that somewhere while doing research for my current purchase.

Officially I think so but you will be able to find drivers yourself.

If you research you can find drivers that will work for Windows 7. If you Goggle how to install windows 7 on a G750 you will probably find a few guides on how to accomplish the downgrade.

Pretty much, since all hardware chips will still support 7 since they are used in machines that do.
