just bought this asus g73jh gaming notebook. i7 with (3 x 2gb) ddr3 simms, four memory slots in total.

when i opened it up, i could replace 2 of the factory simms, but the 3rd is buried under the motherboard, making it very difficult to take out.

Question 1) my memory upgrades are cas 7 (2 x 2gb). given that there is still 1 factory 2gb simm installed at cas 9, are my timings all cas 9 now?

question 2) i have installed simms in banks 1 & 3 (my upgrades), does it matter what slots they are installed in?

Question 3) in order to get dual channel performance, how should simms be installed?

    thank you,
    -Pete

If you have an A or B model then shouldn't it already have 8gb installed? Dunno why you'd need more at this point...

Anyway, no, it doesn't matter what slots they are in, yes, all your memory will run at 9 cas (ddr defaults to the slowest common speed of the sticks). Not sure I understand your third question? Just stick them in and go?

Hopefully you got the same brand of mem as what you had already, certain manufacturers are known to not play nice with others, though the majority should be ok.
