I have a g72 I was wondering if anyone had put a 12.5 mm hdd in any of their asus laptops? Do they fit or not?

You shouldn't have any trouble...

I don't think they would fit. The stock drives are 9mm, and they look pretty flush to me. Otherwise, lots of people would be installing WD Velociraptors, but they aren't.

You will have to check the drive bay and use a ruler to see, if you are using the bracket for the HD it may be to thick to fit. But if you do not you may be able to mount it in. I used Velcro to mount a drive in mine as I could not get the bracket. But the drive seemed to use up most of the space top to bottom.
As I did not have to use as much packing to keep the drive from moving as I thought.
But hey if it would fit that would open up other drives that we could use!
I think I will check mine today and just see if it will fit.
The things I get myself into. I just cannot leave things well enough alone. -
I have a 12.5mm HDD in my G50vt. Only one bay is deep enough for it, though. The other will only fit a 9mm. Not sure if this helps at all, but figured I'd throw in my 2c.

it should fit in the optical disk drive bay for sure... not in the regular hard drive bay.
