I just bought a g73jh, and so far, I absolutely love it, but I was reading about upgrades...and major one I want to do is putting a better screen in it. I read about using the B173HW01v5 because it is matte, and 1080p, but in the discousion, there was an idea of a 120hz screen in it. I love 120hz screens, i went from a gtx570 running a 120hz screen to this. My questions, 1, does it take the normal 40 pin connector for it, 2, will the 5870m be able to handle it well enough, 3, are there any users on here that have sucsesfully done this. Thanks guys.

120hz screen will not work as all 120hz screens use 50 pins connector and g73jh have 40 pins . As I have understanded earlier when researching this 50 pin connector is actually internal Mini Display Port.

Do consider the V5 matte it is an awesome screen and well worth replacing the horrible glossy 900p one.

Im going to do the v5 matte, especially with hopefully a 7970 upgrade, 920xm, and ssd. Just wondering if their could be a 50 to 40 pin adapter possibly? or just run both through hdmi possible? Im more a hardware person, not visual mods.

A 120hz screen would be nice, it runs smoother than 60hz ones.

The V5 matte is awesome, and is in my opinion an upgrade that is very much worth it. Mine's been kicking around for about a year and I couldn't be happier with it. Between its brightness and the matte treatment, the V5 can even be used outdoors. Viewing angles are decent, even for a TN screen.
