I am looking at several computers. One is the G73SW-A1. The first is the keyboard issue. I have seen a few threads that mention some of these laptops still have the issue. If I was to get the G73SW, how fast could I tell it has the keystroke lag. Is it something that after a few sessions on the keyboard you will see it? If I do get one with it can I fix it or can it truly be fixed at all?

The second question is about the processor. Is it really worth getting the SW over the JW? Is the only reason the list of issues the JW has? Does the integrated gpu on the sandy bridge matter at all with the G73SW?

Keyboard lag seems to be a hit or a miss, you should be able to know right away though, and so far there is no 100% fix.

I'm having no probs with my SW so far, including no noticeable keyboard lag.

I'd say the SB is miles better than the i7 740qm that comes in the JW. Overall, it downclocks for less power and to run cooler, it turbo boost much more efficient and clock for clock just feels so much faster. It may not be this huge improvment for games, but I'd say it would help smooth out the frames to allow for more consistency.

And nope, the IGPU in the SB won't make any difference as this laptop doesnt offer optimus to use it.

I heard from a guy at xoticpc that asus released a new bios recently that fixed it but the latest bios release on asus site doesnt make mention of it, so no idea if it fixes it or not... especially considering bios fixes have come and gone and never really fixed it in the past.

There's a whole suite of updates for it. a BIOS, an ATK Package, and Synaptic driver.

I thought i was having missing keystrokes, but i think it's getting used to the style of keyboard it is. i think you just have to press the keys down a little bit harder.
