    Hi,

After having played Civ V on Steam I decided to reboot my ASUS G73JH. When I got into Windows (Win 7 64 Ultimate) I noticed that one of my hard drives is gone.

I have 2 x 500GB drives, with the OS installed on the C: partition. The other partitions, among them D: with all Steam games and such, is just gone.

No error. No warning. No blue screen. Nada.

Has anyone experienced something like this before? How can I find out if the drive is corrupt?

This is so typical...things screwing up just weeks before Dreamhack Winter 2010.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

my guess is the drive got corrupted but this is weird.. it might be dead... or loose connection maybe.. i'd try reseating the drive... its simple to do.. 2 screws or so and you can reach it.

I think I might be having a similar issue. I just installed a 2nd HDD and I can't even get it to show up.

start > search "computer management" > click

scroll down to disk management - make sure the drives are mounted /assigned a drive letter. Sometimes it can forget what you assigned if you just did something like add a disk or partition.

Today I noticed that my comp restarted. I wondered what-the-hell and logged on and noticed that the second HDD was missing. I shut the machine, took both HDDs out and swapped them and restarted and both showed up. Then same procedure backwards and everything is as it was before, don't know what happened, but I am running a better safe than sorry virus scan now. I did repaste few days ago with some years old AS3 and the results were not impressive. I think I also applied a little too much paste. I'm now waiting for some MX-4 to do it all over again.

told ya :D... something was wrong with HDD's.. usually stuff like this fixes it... however , i suggest you run seatools , HD tune and check if your hard disks are not dying...
