Im hoping someone could explain my results please:
3DMArk06: 12085 Overall Score 1280x1024 Default. Stock: 11720
3DMark Vantage: 9055 Overall Score 1280x1024 Default. Stock GPU: 8734
3DMArk11: 2284 Overall Score Default. Stock: 2105
Why is my 3Dmark06 score so low but vantage and 11 over the normal marks listed on notebook check? I have all my powerplay and throttling on 100% performance mode. Twin turbo is off. My GPU clocks are 800/1100. Stock results listed. My GPU temps hover 72-76oC.
Setup below.

I have an identical computer as you and get ~13800 when using those clocks. Seems you're a couple thousand shy on 06. You're certain it's at default settings? That's about where I'm at if I run at a higher resolution.
What driver are you using? The new 11.4 leaked one? -
1280x1024 no AA optimal AF Shader 3.0 all settings as default. -

there are tests on the 11.4 thread -

From what you're describing, it sounds like your drivers aren't installed correctly. This doesn't mean that you've done it wrong, ATI has a history of bad driver releases, and you're using a pre-release preview driver as your test subject.
It also doesn't make any sense that one of those programs would get throttled but not the others. -
Seems like this is turning into an discussion about if I can install drivers or not instead of providing other possiblities, reinstalling 11.2 with driver cleaning and testing with 11.4 as I have already done made no difference to the results in 3Dmark06.
-
Have you tried some of the older drivers?
I got my best scores in 3dmark06 with DNA modded 10.9a.
also make sure CCC settings are all on default.
I have to disagree with you about drivers not making a big difference.
There may not be a big difference between 11.2 and 11.4 but there can be a difference of hundreds of points between one set of drivers and another.
I haven't tested the latest drivers with 3dmark06.
Maybe AMD just decided not to optimize 11.x drivers for 3dmark06.
Frankly that benchmark is becoming less and less relevant because it's limited to directx 9 and especially because it's influenced by aspects of CPU performance that make almost no difference in today's games. -
That's the biggest issue here to be honest. You're doing fine in DX10 and DX11 benchmarks but lagging behind in a DX9 benchmark. But most DX9 games are so old that your computer will crush them anyway, even if it isn't optimized for such an old standard. (We're talking five years old now, that's an eternity.)
This is a driver issue, no doubt about that.
You can try running some other DX9 benchmarks to see how your computer fares if DX9 optimization is important to you.
I can tell you that both 11.2 and 11.4 gave me typical results in all three benchmarks however. So maybe you have something loading up in Windows Startup (MSCONFIG) that's affecting you or possibly you didn't get an old driver completely swept off your machine.
If I were you this result would bug me as well and I would want to know the answer but if I couldn't figure it out I wouldn't be too upset and just stick to enjoying my games. -
I stated that it makes very little difference for me when testing between 11.2 and 11.4. After earlier mentioned it could be my drivers I have reinstalled and driver cleaned and reinstalled again and still the same result when im testing 3Dmark06.
, I will do another clean sweep tonight and roll back the drivers to the earlier version 10 and see if this makes a difference. Its strange that I see worse results in DX9 than I do with DX10 or 11 and im 100% sure that a previous driver is not conflicting as after factory resetting I sweeped and then installed a clean version of 11.2 which im sure last month I tested and it gave me 13000+ on 3Dmark06 .

Some information that might be helpful is to post the individual scores from the 6 tests within 3DMark06. The ones they add together to get your grand total and final score. If we compare the individual results, and not just the overall result, perhaps we can narrow it down further.

You know whats funny? Ever since ive bought the laptop 8 months ago, ive been though 7 driver updates and I never driver cleaned once. Just upgraded. The thing runs rock solid! LOL
-
just uninstall(after restart you can see the big stretched resolution) and install(after install resolution is changed automatically to native -
I could quite happily sit there for hours benchmarking and tweaking but I would go grey and have a beard before I had realised my laptop was on fire!
