Without getting into the details, Asus has returned my G73JH-A3 computer three times over the past two months, failing to fix it each time. I understand I am by no means alone in this camp.

Per the "lemon clause" in my warranty, I am owed a new laptop. As I understand it though, this model has been discontinued. I'm about to call Asus and tell them that they've failed to fix my computer again, and that they need to do something to fulfill the promise they made when I spent about $1800 on their flagship model. Assuming they will choose to replace the computer with a different model if the JH-A3s are indeed dead and gone, what would be Asus's current equivalent model? Based on horror stories I've heard of customers receiving inferior models as "replacements" for broken computers, and my own dealings with their maintenance folks in CA (long story short: Incompetent at best, deceptive at worst), I'm a bit nervous as to what they intend to do, and I'd like to be as informed as possible before I call them up, lest I end up with last year's bargin bin special.

As I understand it, the currently-in-production model that would best replace my stricken fellow is the G73JW-A1. Am I right on these counts - that the JH-A3 is gone, and that the JW-A1 would be the closest thing to it?

Here's a link to the computer I bought, which became borked beyond belief two months after I got it.
And a link to the one that seems closest to it.

(A quick note: Apparently, not very many of the G73JH-A3 models were made - for reference, they are essentially the same as the more common G73JH-A1, but with the Seagate Hybrid drives now standard on the G73JW-A1)

Your model equivalent would be the G73JH-B1

Hearing all these horror stories makes me really glad I live right beside the service center in Toronto... Are there any service centers you can physically go to near you? I believe that guarantees that the job is done right, it may be worth the roadtrip if you're within a 100 mile radius.

@PHnX: Yup, that's the way to do it. Show up in person, test in person, complain in person.

What's wrong with it? You should include a nice, detailed list of problems as well as providing a list to the phone centre. I had to return mine several times because the techs didn't fix the problem as I I explained it to the phone-person.

Also, request a full system restore and testing.
