So I found out it is x8 instead of going x16. Is there something wrong with that???
I know the speed is negligible while gaming, but I was wondering if it was normal for the gpu to behave that way, and if there's a way to fix it.
Thanks

Should be x16, so something is wrong.
-
mine jumps for x16 1.1 to x16 2.0 depending on load, but that is all I have seen change
-
Well it doesn't feel slow at all, but it sure is different. What could I do to try to bring it to x16?

i have the same issue with 6770m in a hp laptop havok did you found solution?
-
Some programs can report bus speed incorrectly when not being stressed. As a power saving method, the bus speed can be reduced, but when stressed will return back to full speed.
-
Are you getting this reading for the bus speed in GPU-Z? If so, which version? If your aren't noticing any performance drops then it's probably just a software reporting error. I started a thread about this just recently because I was getting the same error on my G73JH.
-
I've tried versions 0.5.1, 0.5.9 and 0.6.0. They all show the same...
Do you have any kind of problems while gaming or idling, such as "Display driver <your-driver> stopped responding and has successfully recovered." ?
Cos I used to have a lot of them on certain nvidia drivers, tho they have been fixed (it happens now once every 50 reboots or so xD) -
I've gotten the "display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered" on my Radeon 5870 only when I had overclocked it too far. My games would crash to desktop and I would get that message. At a stable OC or stock clocks, I've never gotten that error. -
My performance is as good as ever, but sometimes the error pops out. I've googled this problem and it seems to be driver related, and nvidia still hasn't fixed this.
-
My bus speed readings have changed over time too as I've updated my video drivers and GPU-Z, but the most important thing is that the performance has remained constant or even improved.
-
Well I suffer from OCD tbh, but well, there are things you got to learn to live with =/

i used to have the same problem but it was driver related i am talkin about the driver stopped responding etc..as for the first one pci e 2.0x16@x8 2.0 it is shown in every programm like pcwizard aida64 gpu z cpu z..is there a fix on that or it is just the way it is...
-
Im running 266.58 nvidia drivers now to prevent those issues and it seems to be working all right, but I would really like to run the latest ones for the performance increase in skyrim since I bought it a couple of weeks ago -
i didn't fix it amd did..i don't know what skyrim needs but try put nvidia new drivers in many ways as possible i mean first try to put them on the former drivers if it doesn't work then try again with clean installation i hope it works and try the last four drivers if that doesn't work be patient and i really believe nvidia fix it..also there is another solution format but use it when you have no more patience..i really understand you because i have lost files important to me that way so i know how bad you are feeling..as for the pci e x8 does it have any real difference?
-
It is ok, as I said I have already fixed it, but not by upgrading drivers, I'm literally using drivers from past year. This drivers give no problems at all (from what I've seen).
-
With a card that slow, you won't notice any performance difference. It was noted that there was a 5% difference between a GTX 480 @ x16 vs x4 on the PCI-e bus. You won't notice anything since 5% on a GTX 460M means like... 1fps difference... big deal.
It's fine. -
-
ok and does anyone know pci e x8 2.0 what is the link data speed in gb/s?
-

-
I would never sacrifice performance for something as simple as a number in GPU Z .... -
Since noone else is experiencing these problems, it's safe to assume it's not the driver's fault, but rather your setup's. I'd suggest a fresh reinstall of Windows.
460m Bus is: PCI-E 2.0 x16 @x8 2.0
