This is a copied post I made in another thread: Having problems with my audio, I dunno what I did but I was playing a youtube video and there was no sound, or so I thought. I moused over the volume icon and it showed that the Realtek High Definition Audio was playing sound but I was hearing nothing. My question is how exactly does the Realtek HD audio work? Do I need special speakers or is it all in the laptop hardware already, I'm pretty nub when it comes to stuff like this (been out of the PC thing for a good while). I did download a video card driver update before this though don't know if that's a factor. I guess I just need to know how to select the audio output device.
I also have another problem but I don't know if it can be answered here or elsewhere but I'm going to ask here anyway. I've been playing Aion Online on this computer and from day one it was running beautifully smooth. It was like that for 6 days but last night and earlier today the FPS have dropped to around 12-14 and have stayed low. I've tried messing with the ATI settings and even turning the in game settings all the way down and it wont go past 14 FPS with 400 ping. I played Dragon Age Origins right after and that game still runs just fine (though I can't get a frames per second because I don't want to DL Fraps) really smooth. I also played on my other laptop with an Nvidia 9600 and the game still plays smooth despite the high ping. I don't know what the idea could be. Someone suggested the graphics card could be fried but the computer has hardly even gotten warm to the touch. Not to mention other games play fine.

The sound problem fixed itself after restarting, but I guess I'll have to figure out the other problem elsewhere. I'm just curious, is there a possibility that it could be the video card at fault?

Did you try Aion's forums? Certain games have issues on specific GPUs. Maybe a change in the game is causing a glitch in the 5870. I would try the updated drivers from Asus (i.e. the 10.1), if that doesnt solve the issue,
then its time to be a bit more daring....
get the catalyst 10.4 and see if they make things any better. If u start getting GSODs, revert back to stock...and look elsewhere. -

This is a problem with the g73. Sometimes it throttles when you use the battery and go back to AC mode, and you have to restart it. There is a whole thread around here about this. It is said that Asus will come with a new bios to fix this issue. There is a software that will stop this. It is posted in the thread please look for it =).

The thread that cotolay is talking about is located here and the software is called ThrottleStop. I strongly recommend that you read the thread for more information and before using.

The 10.1 package has a 04/15/2010 release date. You'll find it (and future releases) by searching for Notebooks - Drivers - VGA off the main download page using the Search feature.
