    Hello all:
I really want to buy an Asus G53 series laptop so my question is the following:
Is there any model of the G53 series that does not have factory defects like the screen not working or the power pin breaking up, or the graphigs card melting...???? If there is can you kindly tell me which model exactly? I am willing to sacrifice performance for QUALITY.
    Thank you!

The G74 and G53SX are fine there are not major problems just the general minor things like average sound quality and webcam/mic.

The days of the JH issues are gone since Asus moved to Nvidia and mid range the pin problems are not common now.

You might as well hold on though as the new Ivy models will be out soon with the kepler 660M and as the prices remain pretty high you would do best to wait because the cheaper models come with a 128bit 560M and the 128bit 660M will be a massive boost in comparison.

There are always going to be issues with ASUS laptops, and there will always be exceptions, too. My last laptop was a Dell XPS and it had zero issues. My G74SX is pretty much defect-free but there are a lot of complaints about other issues on the G74, like laggy touchpad, laggy key presses, screen issues, etc.

There´s a weird bug with the combination of core i processors and nvidia graphics card where out of nowhere you will be getting TDR errors. It can happen to any PC (laptops aswell) and I don't think there's a way to be completely safe from this. I've been getting them on my G73sw, I've read a lot of people with other asus laptops getting the same. I've read Acers getting them. A friend of mine has an Alienware m15x and it behaves exactly as mine.

Just giving a heads up. If this problem arises with your pc, do not blame the maker of the PC, I actually blame Microsoft with his buggish TDR handling.

Yes, not really any major know issues, other than random things that can happen anytime. The video card in these G53 models however could be better. As opposed to the 192 bit video cards in the other two versions(1.5-3.0) of the GTX560.

But, I know there are some new releases on the near horizon that may behoove you.

With that said, I love the G53, it's an all around great model.

previously some issues has been observed,,,
but later on they improved and they put one additional label to the keyboard,,,

New Revision / Certified Design ,,, if you see this label all should be ok without any issue,,,

Yes, most of them are fine. The problems you hear about are not inherent in the design of the laptop - they're just manufacturing defects, not design problems.
