Hello all,
I personally would like to thank Gary for his work. Yes he is doing his job, but he is doing his job very well which more than what most people do. He seems to genuinely care about our issues.
His title at Asus does not suggest he is a RMA investigator. But he has offered his help to many here, and he has addressed the issues Quagmire had and myself.
While I am not happy the vBios was not released initially as it should have been, I am glad we have Gary at NotebookReview.
I do not think there is a Gary in Clevo, Alienware forum for example.
so anyways, here is a nice thread for anybody else that would like to thank him for his recent work.
That keyboard fix will save many many people RMA time.

I'll second this.
I don't post here much, but I read here daily.
Gary has been extraordinarily helpful to me in private communication with regards to my G73, and has been exceptional in terms of keeping the community as a whole up to date on his work and the upcoming solutions to a variety of issues.
Working in the IT department at a local college myself, I know how hard it can be to stay motivated to help your customers sometimes. Gary doesn't need to go out of his way the way he has been, and it really speaks volumes about his character as an individual.
Mr. Key, you are a credit to your company and your field of work. Keep it up! -
May i ask what keyboard fix you are referring to?
-
-
bcuz then i cant see the keys when trying to type my password -
I would like to thank him as well. I do complain quite a bit about lack of progress for the GSOD fixes, but from an objective standpoint, ziddy is correct. There isn't a Gary Key for the owners of other computer brands, and I do believe Mr. Key genuinely cares about this issue. I do not believe Asus forced him to do this or even encouraged it. Thanks Gary, and thank your team for us. But put them back to work right after!

tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
Having only recently even heard of Gary Key and even though no personal issue has been resolved yet for myself, I too wish to thank and encourage Gary for his 'above and beyond' approach to his (Asus) customers.
I am looking for a BIOS update for our SSD subpar performance woes with the aggressive power saving features the PM55 and HM55 chipset have.
I want to be the first to say Thank You Gary! in advance of receiving this fix.
I don't know why, but I feel very positive that Mr. Key will come through for us on this issue too.
Hope I'm right!
And even if it is out of Gary's control, the (advance) thank you is still meant in all sincerity, as I'm sure he did all he could to get the powers that be to respond positively to/for us. -
Same, as everyone else, thanks for working on the issues and most of all for working with the community here. Looking forward to a new vBios
.

Here here!

Thanks Gary Keys hope to hear some good news from you about AMD's fix for this GSOD problem. I want to play some FFXIV Open Beta!!
-
Well, I hope your issues get resloved thanks to Gary. If most, not even all people were doing their jobs like him your issues wouldn't exist on the first place.
-
Thank you for everything Gary. Your dedication to fixing the G73 is truly appreciated!

We need a queen for the G73 forums so that she in turn may knight Gary. Chastity would be a good candidate, but I don't know how close I would let her get a sword to either side of my neck, personally.
Great thread, Ziddy! -

Great thread! I would personally thank Gary Key once again for the all the help that he has provided for all of us here on notebookforum.com. If it wasn't for him, I would have really been upset at Asus for all the problems that occured/exist. But thanks to him, it restored my trust in Asus once again. I just hope Asus learns from their mistakes (unlike alienware with the hinge issue on the m15 to the m11). So once again, THANK YOU GARY KEY! GOD BLESS!

Gary,
First of all, Thank You.
Also, is there a way where can we let your bosses know what an amazing and fantastic job you're doing and that you deserve a raise and promotion and should be promoted as King of Asus asap?
Seriously, I would like to see everyone here that has had a problem report to your bosses what a kick a$$ job you're doing and are the sole reason why many will stick with Asus even with all the problems experienced.
I trust you'll find the success you deserve.
(Also, that's a rocking first name you have. Although I'm biased as it happens to be my first name too -
<--- Also rarely posts but lurks daily. Thanks for all the hard work Gary!
-
Even though I haven't bought a G73 yet, Gary has been the main reason I'm keeping it at the top of my shopping list. Gary's feedback has been second to none from what I've seen from companies.
-
Gary truly gives us hope!
+1 Thanks! -
Thanks for the personal attention and hard work Gary!
This is the first time in 30+ years I have ever seen support like this and it is truly fantastic!
P.S. Can a moderator fix the incorrect spelling of Gary's last name in the thread title. Poor spelling is not an effective way to say thanks. -
And you would be so very wrong in that assumption. Alienware quality reps (~3 active for AW alone and a few others for Dell) have been giving us support on NBR for a long time. They invite their customers over to HQ if you live near them; I've been invited and have met them as have a few others and was given a bunch of free stuff.
Good to see that Asus finally sent over an NBR rep to deal with the GSOD and other problems that the G73 has had. Every major vendor should have at least one rep handy for these things.
P.S. Our Alienware quality rep gave us a driver release newer than the current 10.8 available from AMD. I'm sure Gary could do the same if he hasn't already. -
double post.
-
Thanks Gary Keys! you the man!!
-
thank you Gary, your kb light fix worked like a charm!!!
+1 for you! -
-
-
Thank you Gary! You saved me from having to RMA my work laptop.
Much better support than when I called Asus direct and they denied knowing of a keyboard lights issue. -
-
Although I sent mine in to repair the backlighting I am very greatful to know there are people like Gary willing to help out when we are in need. Thanks!!

Quagmire LXIX Have Laptop, Will Travel!
Gary did a great job for me. There were a couple stumbles by the tech for communication and packaging, but Gary's communication was solid. His quest for "perfection" had my G73 there over the Labor Day weekend and I wanted to avoid that, but it happened.
This post is just to publically thank Gary for stepping up and doing what he said he would do about the fiasco RMA return from IN, "correct the problem". Too bad this wasn't the service from IN and Asus needs to clean house over there.
I will update my RMA thread tomorrow on the experience and results.

It's about time, Quagmire
-
Thank you Gary Key. Asus need to make couple hundred clonings of you. You are the man.
-
they need a few thousand here in UK. Anyways , Thank you gary. You fixed this laptop for all of us.. The irritating synaptics issue is still there but i'm sure you'll fix it
-
<3Garyandfriends
You and the team that helped fix these issues deserve praise! Hopefully you get a promotion or some recognition of some sort at ASUS! -
Thank you Mr Gary Keys. You are a role model of the forum, and of society in general. Your help with solving the GSOD issue is hugely appreciated, and your overall contribution to the community has been nothing short of amazing.
Thank you. The help is much appreciated, good sir. -
A big thank you to Gary and a big screw you to ASUS for letting such crap out the door LOL in no way shape or form should a product be so hit or miss for people. I have ALWAYS used ASUS in the past as they have always delivered but I have to admit they've miffed me on this one and I may go brand browsing next time.
A Thank You to Gary Keys
