I've seen a G73JH-A1, G73JH-X5, and a G73JH-B2 model?
Would the G73JH-X5 be one of the newer ones?
-
The B1 is the newest model, it is due to be released sometime in the first week of September. The others are older models.
-
What will the benefits be over say the G73JH-X5 and is it worth me waiting for it in 2-3 weeks if thats when its due to be out? -
Ok let me rephrase, is it worth waiting for? I dont see a huge jump in specs.
-
Only difference really is a bumped up processsor, to an i7 740 as apposed to 720. However, we are hoping (and praying) the latest B version will not be riddled with BIOS/GPU issues, and will be perfect out of the box 100% of the time! I'd say its definitely worth waiting for.
-
Im waiting, so its worth it.
-
Well, there isn't a product that works out of the box with 100% success rate. Everything has a failure rate.
-
This deal looks pretty tempting....still not sure if worth the wait
ASUS G73JH-A1 17.3" Notebook PC in PC Notebook Computers at JR.com -
G73JH-A1 =$1549
G73JH-B1 =$1749 (133MHZ CPU UPGRADE)
G73JW =$1645 (133MHZ CPU UPGRADE, USB3.0, 120HZ SCREEN, WIRELESS HDMI, 460 M 1.5GB VRAM, 1333MHZ RAM AS STANDARD, BETTER INTERNAL COOLING TO PREVENT GSOD)
what does G73jh-B1 have? a measly 133mhz cpu upgrade??
for which, it costs $200 more than the g73jh-A1
g73JW with 460m may be slower, big if, but the reason its more costly than g73jh-a1 is because g73jw has many new features like 120hz screen, usb 3.0, WIDI (wireless HD streaming with 0 latency), 1333mhz Ram standard(as compared to 1066 in g73JH), newer internal circuity to prevent GSOD's
then why is g73jh-B1 so much more expensive than the g73jh-A1 model or the upcoming g73JW model?

The B1 also has the Momentus XT drives.

The best thing to do is to stick with online merchants who you can trust! like newegg, amazon, bestbuy, xoticpc, excaliburpc, gentech, electronicexpo, buy.com, etc
Donot buy G73JH from Bestbuy because they give only 1 year USA warranty, All other websites and retailers will give you 2 year global warranty+ 1 year accidental coverage as standard.

As to the different models available:
Asus G73Jh Gaming Notebook Review - HotHardware
G73JH - A1 $1645 Includes Blu-ray drive / 1TB storage / ROG backpack and gaming mouse
G73JH - A2 $1549 Includes DVD drive instead of Blu-ray drive
G73JH - X1 $1449 Includes one 500GB HDD instead of two / No Blu-ray drive / No ROG backpack or gaming mouse
G73JH - X2 $1499 Same as X1 but includes Blu-ray drive
G73JH - X3 $1495 Includes two 320GB HDD's / No Blu-ray drive
The latest one thats come out is G73JH-B1 in Aug 25 2010 (few days ago)which is $200 more expensive($1750). It has an extremely very minor upgrade of cpu by 0.13ghz or (130mhz) which is worthless. The reason it is $200 more is that people are hoping that this newer model will solve some issues that all current G73JH users are facing.
On the other hand, G73JW which is an update to G73jh is about to be released for pre-order on Sep 3rd. I would recommend you wait till sep 3 to make a decision.
EDIT: ALL A1, A2 AND B1 laptops have the momentus xt hybrid seagate hard drives
hope this helps!
A little confused with all the G73Jh models?
