I noticed that there are many refurbished G51VX's. Does anyone know what was replaced between the out of the store vs refurbished models?

My video card runs hot at 89c, but I have a second G51VX that runs in the high 60's-low 70's.

I'm guessing maybe they swapped video cards or added cooling measures to those refurbished units.

I've read this informative thread regarding cooling: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/414147-grab-copper-drill-now.html and will try that too.

Every machine is different, refurbished units were repaired because they had a problem with some component. There is no telling which component was the problem.

Of course there's no telling what was replaced, but that doesn't AT ALL indicate that there is something defective with it.

Most refurbished laptops have previous issues fixed. My G73 for example, was re-pasted from the factory when i bought it, and already had both the BIOS and vBIOS updated.

So the fact that it is refurbished doesn't mean it is somehow less reliable than a brand new one - If anything, it is MORE reliable because you know that laptop has personally been repaired and inspected by a technician. Laptops simply shooting off the production line do not get this.

Don't think of a refurbished unit as a broken laptop that was repaired - It is a laptop which could have been returned for ANY reason, and has been brought up to speed with regards to any issues that model may have suffered from.

Quite a few refurbed JH's are units that were returned for GSOD errors which only needed a vBIOS update.
