So, I was on Vent. No other programs running. I was chatting with a friend using the Vent Chat, and out of nowhere the Windows theme changed to Windows Basic, and the GPU fan spooled up. I could hear the GPU making some funky noises (kinda like in those 50's movies with robots, the noise they make. Or the 50's computer noise).

I checked my temps in GPU-Z and it wouldn't give me a solid temp. Went from 71 to 68 to 83 and just kept fluctuating.

I hit the restart button, but it shut down, and after a second, turned itself back on.

So, what the heck just happened? It seems alright right now. When I was posting, the top 1/4th of my screen was flickering. I've had it at 705/1100 for 2 days now without a problem.

I'm on BIOS 209 and the modified Beta vBios with OD. 10.8 driver. Should I flash back to stock?

Check your task manager at that time. You should see winsat.exe running. It's sheduled task to rate your PC. By default it's running every sunday at 1.00 am.

You're right! Phew. The index needed to be refreshed, just ran the assessment.
Top part of the screen flickered, just like when watching a YouTube video. Man that's annoying. I think it's time to go back to stock and 10.1. Never did that when I had those settings.

Is winsat.exe safe to disable forever? Or is it necessary?
