I've had my G73JH-X3 for almost a year now and it's been pretty good up until now. Recently it has been hard crashing whenever I run various different games on it (Borderlands, BFBC2, Dead Space 2). These games all used to run fine, but now 5-10 minutes into the game the entire computer will crash to power off with no error screens or warning messages. I haven't installed anything recently on the computer that should be causing these issues. The odd part about this is these crashes only occur a couple minutes after I plug in the AC adapter while playing games (or 5-10 minutes upon start up of the game if the AC adapter was already plugged in). I tested this by playing a game for about an hour with a full charge and it ran smoothly but shortly after I plugged in the AC adapter it predictably crashed. The AC adapter isn't getting really hot so i'm not sure what the issue is and I can't find anyone else with a similar issue from searching. Any help?

An AC Adapter can cause a crash. However my first test would be to power the computer on AC with no battery and then try to see if it crashes. If it is the AC adapter it is understandable that the real problem is only showing itself under higher power draw. Dont forget to try another source of AC power someone elses house not in your neighborhood, etc, to check and be sure the adapter itself has a clean energy source to start with.

Also check your GPU temperature, it's usually what causing the G73JH to crash.

I tried testing it without the battery just running on AC but it still caused the crash. My core temps under load are around 75-85C and my GPU temp is 85-90C with an ambient temperature somewhere between 20-25C. As of now I can't try running it on a power source too far away from my current location (on a college campus) but I will at least try a different building across campus. I do have a backup that I could revert back to when I know the games were running but I don't think that this would affect anything.

I'm actually having the exact same problem on a G60Vx. Have you found a fix for it yet?

I, too, have a G73Jh, and I frequently played video games for almost 2 years. But, for the last couple months, it has been crashing within 1-4 minutes of starting up a game. My laptop is barely warm to the touch, even around the fans and battery, but my AC Adapter is very hot. I used to play with the battery out, but started moving the laptop around and it became a hassle. I'm tempted to call in and send the laptop for repairs and cleaning, a new keyboard (since I have a certain issue where the keys are "sticking"), and have them test for problems with the AC Adapter and/or battery, but I wanted to google the issue first. Any help or advice is appreciated.

We'd need a little more info on what happens and under what conditions.
