Today, my 50vt-x5 just shut off, it's been shutting it self off the last couple weeks even when the ac is plugged.

Today, the machine shutdown because I forgot to plug in my ac adapter.

So I plugged it in, but the comp wouldn't turn on. The green light is also off on the ac adapter.

When you unplug the power adapter and replug it into the socket, the ac light would be on, but as soon as I plug it into my laptop, the light shuts off.

    What's going on?

It sounds like either your ac plug on the laptop side is broken, or your charging/power circuit died. The AC adapter could also be bad.
