Last month I took advantage of the ADW with my 2 month old laptop (G73jh-x3) - Lightning surge damaged computer and would not power up.
After 1 month in repair, I just received a message that they cannot get the part to be replaced. They would like to offer me a recertified reconditioned G73jh - X5.
I told them i am uncomfortable with a recertified reconditioned unit - since my original unit was only barely 2 months old. I told them I would like the option of being reimbursed if they cannot repair my laptop.
They responded with that they cannot reimburse and I need to agree to the replacement or wait for original unit to be repaired with no estimated timeline.
I should have just gone ahead and added the laptop to the other damaged electronics with my homeowners insurance, but thought the ADW would take care of it.
I'm worried about taking a reconditioned/recertified laptop as a replacement! I have no idea what the history is and then the scratches or flaws on the unit.

The replacement is essentially the same specs as my original unit.
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Vmill

After sitting on the tech's desk for all this time, I'm sure you got a few new dents and scratches. :) I would grab the recertified one if it's the same specs. At least someone looked at it and made sure it was working.

    Thanks for your reply.
Do you have any idea what the difference is between the G73jh x3 vs x5?
I can't seem to find any info on the X5.
Yeah, I really don't have much of a choice on what to do here.

    Thanks again,
    Vmill

Thanks! Found the specs right away at MicroCenter.
I guess I'll go with it.

That is what i would call a weak argument.

    Go for it!
