    Thx for info.
I'm also seeing thicker text if GPU accelaration is enabled.
    Was with 11.4 too.

probably I'll gonna skip this release. I was a tester for the 11.4 preview which render me many (some kind of) GSODs. So far, with 11.4 whql everything run fine with no GSOD. Probably the GSOD came because of the preview/beta/modified state of unfinished drivers.

I may give it a try just for the OpenGL fix. It does use a different 2D and 3D driver also.

looking on those, 11.4 got me worse performance than 10.12 in black ops...

11.4 gave me a struggle so I'm wary of this...

Went ahead and installed 11.5. Not going to bother explaining but it messed my stuff up as badly as 11.4's ordeal, moreso actually. Got it to work though. <_<

lol poor you. The CCCP thing again eh?

I installed 11.5 while downloading, a few MSN windows open, FF open and a trailer on Steam playing. Needless to say MSN blacked out, and Steam crashed as the display adapter turned off. \o/

But the install still went smooth. Benching with Vantage now to get some numbers.

As for stability, I've been playing BFBC2 and a whole host of games (recent titles) and I've yet to GSOD or have any issues. No noticeable performance loss or gain, and best of all, all GPU features in CS5 work flawlessly.

Sadly, I'm probably going to give up CCCP soon but I got everything working as it should. Everything seems stable in games, OpenGL works, no GSOD's, looks like a winner.

Alternative is to just use mplayer2 with SMPlayer as GUI. The mplayer2 has been ported for Windows and it does not use DirectShow and it uses libass.

I can see you watch anime. You may not realize but vsfilter which is used by CCCP is outdated and unsupported. LibAss renders subtitles better and faster, fileformat goes against language filter here.. This is used in MPlayer2.

MPlayer2 uses LibaV or FFMpeg. LibaV does use FFMpeg though. FFDShow Tryouts which CCCP uses also uses FFMpeg. If you need something that supports your anime fully without having to deal with codec packs and CCCP and DirectShow, then Mplayer2 + SMPlayer are you best bet. I still wouldn't recommend VLC.

mplayer2 binaries for Windows by Lachs0r. These are the most updated mplayer2 builds I trust.

Download and install SMPlayer, the recommended package. Rename the mplayer2 above as mplayer.exe and replace the mplayer.exe in the mplayer folder.

I use this instead of DirectShow.

You could try Daum PotPlayer alternatively. Fully self-contained too but a MILLION times better than VLC.

    Cheers for the info laptopfan.

The Daum PotPlayer and the KMPLayer both use the old mplayer. I wouldn't recommend either.

If you want the most up to date for open source players, decoders and filters, there is only two choices I think. MPlayer2+SMPlayer as GUI or using MPC-HC + Haali + FFDShow Tryouts. Using either one of these doesn't really matter considering they are both based on the ffmpeg project. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Haali is better than the splitter used in Mplayer2. But Mplayer2's libass is better than vsfilter used by MPC-HC. And if you don't like DirectShow, Mplayer2 might be better for you.

That's my preferred loadout. CoreAVC for MKVs.

CoreAVC isn't used because it's MKV. MKV is a container. CoreAVC is used to decode h264 part 10 or AVC. MKV requires a MKV splitter like Haali. Just an FYI. And in recent builds of FFMpeg-MT on Doom9 have shown that in some instances it's now faster than CoreAVC. So it's not necessary any longer.

For anime watchers who use subtitles, that's really the only issue now. libass vs vsfilter. And it's not debate, libass is better. But libass doesn't support directshow unfortunately so if you want it, gotta use mplayer2. In general, for those who don't know what all of this is, CCCP is still the best fail safe way to watch your anime and videos. If you are knowledgeable about directshow then, you can build your own filter chains. Anyways, enough of video discussion in this thread for me.

As for Kuro's issue, I don't think it has to do with 11.4 or 11.5. I suspect it has to do with his installation method. I suspect he's cleaning out his registry after uninstalling and the registry cleaner is messing with his ffdshow settings.

@ kuro, i was also having loads of issues getting anything to play with cccp after installing newer drivers , i tried re installing, installing & uninstalling different filters & cleaning registry with no success.

    try this:
on the playback > output section , make sure you have VMR-7(renderless) or VMR-9(renderless) selected as i noticed after installing newer drivers it would default to "System default" , after that all my issues went away.

As a Hard core anime fan I gotta say I'm very pleased with the new Video hardware acceleration features and options on the new CCC since 11.4 (i tuned it a bit using half split test).

I use K-lite mega codec pack with H264 hardware acceleration DXVA enabled but since ATI already provided some hardware accel software, I had to disable then enable again the matrovska filter (on MPC-HC) to get rid of tearing on some videos.

Here are some samples of my small tweaking on the video settings on the CCC (I disabled dynamic contrast and calibrated it manually, because i dun like sudden changes in contrast):

    *Screens from Mayoi Neko overrun.

Never got a GSOD or any freezing or problems, and this are my current results on 11.4 RC2 for heavens benchmark:

I might test 11.5 when a RC comes out ^^

just to confirm, installing 11.5 preview wont update the driver version on GPU-Z correct? Coz even after installing these drivers, GPU-Z still says 'atiumdag 8.850.0.00 Catalyst 11.4'

Also, in CCC is still says version 11.4. and driver packaging version 8.85-110419a-116502c

Technically, these are 11.4 drivers, but are a preview for what's to come in 11.5.
