AMI Bios Editing Tool for the G73JH and may also work on similar models like the SW. I found this buried in the net :) . Don't forget to rename the BIOS file .rom so you can edit it. I take no credit for this tool or the damage you may inflict upon your laptop (***WARNING*** remember you CAN and most likely will brick your laptop if you don't know what you are doing). I'm sure with time there will be some how to tutorials for different tweaks. The possibilities of what we can now do are immense. Look in my sig for links & happy modding enjoy............... :D

    I have checked ROMs 209 - 211 -213.
In hope to find some fan step entries. But it seems to be identical.
    And nothing about GPU fan!
Also checked the latest MSI GX740 BIOS. CPU Thermal Configuration is the same.
    So IMHO it's pointless. :(

Maybe there is some other EC ROM in this file.

Anybody who has some BIOS mod skills here?

Maybe it is possible to add fully support to SATA III as Asus will never do it.
I remember there was a trick to reveal itens in BIOS, but I don't know if it is possible in Asus Notebook.

So I was playing around with the AMI tool at work yesterday. I wish we had those options in BIOs... I know most people here are looking for fan control, but anyone else interested in an unlocked BIOs? I know I am, but I'm fearful of pulling the trigger... This is pretty much my only gaming computer, so bricking it is not a good idea with games I have been waitin for being right around the corner...

Yesterday I found this MOD-BIOS thread in the MSI section. I had mentioned, that the GX 740 BIOS structure is almost the same to the G73JH one (PM/HM 55 base?).
So I tested the unlocked BIOS on my 1727 barebone (Medion X7811).
But I guessed as much. The options are there, but have no effect. So far I could test it.

The point to unlock the options is to set the Access Level to USER.

Compare one of the linked BIOS files (original<>unlocked) and you will see it.

Mostly there is still a EC ROM, which controls all the interessting things (keyboard, lights, turbo, fans ...) And this must be in the BIOS-file too.

Using this tool (MM_Tool) you are able to update CPU microcodes if you need it. For example I took the latest microcode for I7 1-st gen and put it in the last BIOS for my VAIO F12. For some reason Sony did not put it in the all F1x series. However I didn't flash it. Why? I suddenly bricked laptop :( I was changing access level to USER but forgot that I also changed Hyper-Threading options. I set "disabled". I was going to do this but later on the next flash maybe. And forgot to change it back before saving image.....
BTW. For some reason even if you set ALLLLL SETTINGS to USER in every bench oа directory tree in my VAIO F BIOS you still will NOT unlock options which hied in already hidden directories like Advanced#2 or other. I was able to unlock only all in BOOT menu like Fast Boot etc.

NEVER CHANGE DEFAULT VALUES IN BIOS! NEVER! BECAUSE SIMPLE TRICK WITH RESETTING CMOS WILL NOT HELP YOU.
