The noise from the fan has been driving me crazy for several months. I bought a fan stand, or whatever they're called, and that seemed to work for a while, but no longer seems to be doing the job. A few times, I've lost it and banged the laptop on the table a few times and the noise stopped.
I opened up the laptop and sprayed compressed air into the fan mechanism. It's a bit better, but still acts up. I'd like to try to replace the fan, but the user's manual doesn't indicate how - I saw no obvious way of removing the fan when I opened up the bottom. There is no repair manual for the laptop that I've been able to locate or You Tube videos that show how the replacement should be carried out.
I've read some horror stories on the forums from users who have replaced their fan and the laptop stopped working, and I myself am no expert. Any advice would be appreciated.

Probably the bearings if it's making a lot of noise.
As for swapping out the fan, just buy an equivalent one, use the teardown guide of the g50/51 (found in the "read this before posting" thread) and switch them. -
Not sure what you mean by 'bearings' - is there something I can do to fix that without replacing the fan? Thanks for the heads up on the teardown guide, which I hadn't known existed.
Also, I consulted a thread saying that the replacement fan for the G50vt-X1 is a Forcecon DFS541305MH0T. Is it the same for the G50VT?
