was typing away and the low battery pinged on, laptop was plugged in and green light working on the power pack.

Now I removed the battery and when i put the cable in to try and turn on the laptop it just flashes the touchpad surround light once and goes back to being off.

Its almost like starting a car with a half flat battery it flickers but doesnt go fully.

I refitted the battery and left it off to see if the battery will charge and I pushed the cable on the back and wiggled it and it will make the battery charging light come on when off for a few seconds flashing but nothing more.

I don't think it is a short connection as the lil lightning bolt above the keyboard stays on as if it has power. Im temped to think its a component on the motherboard like a capacitor or something has blown.

    Any Ideas?

I know you probably RMA'd it already, but I hit this issue twice (I actually sent it to repair today for the second time).

In short - the power connector melted.

No overclocking, no previous issues, but two times the same story - it would start flickering when GPU was doing work (even decoding video), the next level is the socket getting really hot (from inside - the power cable was too hot to hold in hand by the end), then it started switching battery/ac/battery/ac and you had to "arrange" the cable to get a good connection for more than a few minutes.

Nothing you can do yourself, the connector is soldered to the board...

Let me know if I was right :)
