I just got the Asus G51VX -RX05. I overclocked my CPU to 2.3Ghz. When I play Crysis the GPU goes up to 85 Celsius. Is this normal? Is it dangerous? Should I get a notebook cooler?

    Thanks, Alex

    About the notebook cooler. Yes
85oC with a CPU is kinda high, but you also overclocked it. So yeah, it is kinda dangerous.

He said GPU goes up to 85oC

Which is acceptable based on what i've read around here.

If the CPU was at 85 then there is issue, but a GPU can handle that.

I thought the typical rule of thumb was

75+ on a CPU is bad

95+ on a GPU is bad

To be honest, only 85 on a GPU under load is pretty cool on a Vx model. Especially if it dosen't have a cooling mod

Well, I clean the fans every two days, just to keep it cool. And I also keep it propped up by two textbooks from behind. I love this thing, it runs Crysis on Full settings!
