Jonny, the G51 (like my G73) has SATA II from what I have read. Any 2.5 inch SSD should work fine. SATA III is backward compatible, so you will not get the absolute MAX performacne of the OCZ.

    Ahh cool

Maybe i should just go with this then:

Newegg.com - Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CW120G3K5 2.5" 120GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

This laptop has been a fiasco since i got it. I got it as a replacement for a G50 with a bad power button, which was cool because it was way better than the G50 and I already had that for 9 months. Well when i received this one out of the box the illuminated keyboard didn't work and i kept getting blue screens on start up and normal operation. (not the gaming BSOD fixed by firmware 208) I couldn't sent it back at the time because i was in the middle of a work project. I finally was just able to RMA it at the very end of its warranty and it turns out it had a bad CPU and HDD.

So after 3 years and 2 laptops i finally have a working computer. Was going to sell it after i got it fixed but i feel its still plenty fast and i upgraded the RAM to 8G and figure id finish it off with a nice SSD.

That sounds like a great plan, from my research Intel are not the absolutely quickest SSD's but they are excellent AFA reliability. For that SSD; the price looks reasonable. It sure beats spending $1000 + for a new machine.

What would you recommend ad an alternative that may be faster? Looking for a 120G drive.

You could always get a SATA III drive now. While you'll only get SATA II speeds you'll be able to max out the bandwidth and also if you plan on getting a new notebook which is SATA III capable in the near future you could use the same SSD. Intel 510, Crucial M4 or OCZ Vertex 3 are popular

Not a bad idea the crucial M4 is around the same price as the intel 320
