I thought i remember seeing a post before saying that the G51J-A1 can only take certain graphics cards because of ASUS made a different mxm board but i am unsure. What can i upgrade my 260m to? I was looking at th eGPU set up but It would only work using 2x because i can't do 1xopt and 2x would be a pain because i have to edit registry files and connect one to expresscard and one to mPCIe slot which is where my wifi card is....so this is really my last option of choice. It is just too much of a pain in the butt and turns my complete laptop into a hybrid cylon lol. I have seen some crazy overclocking of the 260m but i doubt my card can handle that high of clocks but i will try![]()

The Geforce GTX 260M is pretty much the highest you can go. I don't believe there was any other reversed MXM ASUS GPU that ranked higher than the GTX 260M. There was the Geforce GTS 360M that followed, but it was actually slightly weaker. After that ASUS either went with more standard MXM design (G73/G53) or integrated/soldered into motherboard (G74).

Yeah. Best bet is to just grab a new g75. Best buy has there edition for like 1200 bucks. Even though its a weaker gfx card its still more powerful then the 280m
