Hi, a buddy of mine recently got a ASUS G53JW-3DE with an i7-740QM stock. He recently asked me to upgrade it to an i7-940XM, but after I dissassembled the model and put in the new CPU, it refused to boot.

I have double checked everything, all cables, ram, everything. No boot. I have also put the old processor in to see if it worked, and it did. Booted up perfectly.

I see that many other companies such as XoticPC are offering the 940XM option, but I cannot get it to work at all. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you fully reassemble? It won't boot without the DVD drive in, or without ram in the white slot ...

You may need to pull out all the RAM except one, and boot. Once you get it to boot and all, shutdown and put your RAM back in.
