I am trying to install a new SSD (Crucial C-300 128GB) drive in my new Asus G53JW-3DE. I am getting the following error when the notebook tries to reboot - "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device".

The BIOS sees the drive, but during a clean install of Windows 7 or even trying to use the Recovery DVD, the machine does not see it. I have also tried this with an identical Seagate 750GB that came with the system, so I would have 1.5TB of space. I get the same error message when trying to use that new drive as well.

I have tried this with 1 drive in the machine and with both drives (SSD & 750GB or 750GB & 750GB) and get the error either way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Is your G53 set to AHCI in bios rather than IDE?

It was initially set to AHCI out of the box and I got this error, so I switched it to IDE and still got the error on both settings.

I've heard some people with this issue get the drive detecte after they do a secure erase of the drive. To that you'll need to hook it up to another computer and use a disk management utility. Ive never done it but it is worth a shot. Also check for firmware updates for your ssd.
