So I've decided to go for the g53sw-a1.

So far from what I've seen these seem to be the best prices at the moment...

    Amazon
Amazon.com: ASUS G53SW-A1 Republic of Gamers 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop: Computers & Accessories

    FRYS
    FRYS.com | ASUS

Obviously that deal at FRYS is a steal, but unfortunately I live up in New England so with no shipping options that seems like its out of the picture.

This Black Friday/Cyber Monday will be my first online shopping experience on days like that. My question simply is... Would I be better off buying this on BF or CM? And is there a special time of day where you can get better offers than other times of the day? Also, if I see a decent deal on BF, should I just buy it then, or wait until CM for a possibly better deal?

Any knowledge that you guys have about buying online on BF or CM I would definitely appreciate you sharing your wisdom. Thanks a lot guys. I look forward to hearing your input. Ciao

Tiger Direct has a price matching policy althugh there are some restrictions. You could try that.

I've read the difference of 128bit to 192bit and the clocks but the gtx 560m still has overal higher benchmark scores than gtx 460m even if its not by a lot.

I really want to get the g53sx or the g74sx (much better keyboard and I/O port position) models but whats killing it for me is the wasted dimensions of them. Sure it looks cool to have the hinges pushed up 1.5-2 inches from the back but at the end of the day when they tell me its a 17.3" screen I expect it to fit in a 17.3" bag......

I have a 17" inch bag and my current 17.3" laptop fits in it with room to spare, I tested the g74 at the store and not even close, the .3" would not make a difference. I'm seriously considering going with some MSI similar spec computer just because I need my laptop to be mobile and currently I question if the g53 15.6" could fit in my 17" bag properly.

benchmark scores arent based on gameplay. Also were those scores of the 192bit?

As for mobility, I dont know about that. My g53sw stays in two locations; my nightstand and dining table.

I could care less about the weight and the dimensions so long as it doesn't look like there wasting spacing for looks and that they tell us the true dimensions in terms of what we need to travel with it.

They proved with the g53 that you can take a g74 on equal performance and make it smaller. There is so much room on the g74 that you can keep a nice keyboard but make it conform to 17.3" bag size. Fancy hing design begon give us the 2" back!

I've been told that if you buy a g53sw you'll need to buy a 17+ inch bag to make it fit correctly. Is this true?

I can't say for certain about g53 but the g74 isn't even close for standard 17" and almost certainly not going to work on most 17.3" bags. If the g53 doesn't fit in a 17" bag its likely the width.

The problem is the width for the most part, take whatever screen size they tell you and add ~2" and that completely messes up spacing in a bag.

To give an example g53 at 15.6" is 11.75" wide, the MSI [email protected]" with nearly identical specs is 10.95" wide, same with Toshiba X770...@ 17.3" is only 10.79" wide.

Yea... I think it's because the g53 has such a fat azz. But aparantly from what I've read that really helps to keep the laptop pretty cool while doing intense gaming.

Well, I guess when I get the A1 I'll grab a 17.3 just to be safe. I'll definitely let you guys know for future reference.
