So next week I should be getting the g53sw-a1 from Amazon. I heard that these computers come with a decent amount of bloatware on them. Would it be better to do a complete clean install of windows 7 ultimate and then install the drivers, OR should I keep the home premium on there and simply remove the bloatware from the machine manually? Any ideas would be appreciated.

By the way, I would also like to buy a sleeve for this laptop. From what I hear you need to buy at least a 17 inch sleeve to fit the g53 properly. So far these seem to be good options.

Do any of you have experience with these sleeves? Or have any recommendations? Please let me know your opinions. Thanks a lot people. Ciao

I went with a major online player here and it came with SSD and the ASUS factory install, boot time to a working desktop is 45 secs. I would recommend a clean install of either version of Win 7.
I have disabled quite few programs with msconfig also and removed power-4-gear, control deck, etc. :(

It is usually easier to do a clean install if you have all of the necessary media. That way, you can only put on what you want and you don't have to worry about missing any of the programs to remove.

Yea I was leaning towards doing a clean install.

In order to make the laptop function correctly, which drivers will I definitely need to install?

I went to ASUS.com and found this section with some drivers. Are these all the drivers I need? (besides the nvidia drivers of course)

Are there any other important drivers that you guys can think of? Please let me know. This will be my first ASUS that I have bought. Thanks!
