Hi!
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G53SX-A1-15-6-Inch-Gaming-Laptop/dp/tech-data/B005F3440Y/ref=de_a_smtd
Looks a pretty good deal to me, $200 less than equivalent on New Egg...or am I missing something here?
Likely to buy, opinions appreciated!

No you are not missing anything but it has the 2gb gimped 128bit GPU which is wack and a slow 5400RPM HDD hence why it is so cheap.
You would be better buying the G74SX-BBK7 for $1199 it has the same GPU if you only want to spend $1200. Otherwise go for the G53SW and get the 192bit GPU. -
I wanna stay with a 15". The info summary says 5400 but in technical details lists a 7200.
Is the 128/192 really so noticable? Would this be a better choice?
Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M -
People who own it say no but the real life benchmarks say yes it is weak if you intend to game at 1080p and you will suffer with the newer games being released but its your choice and hence the price being cheap could be worthwhile.
The G73SW would be much better for performance. -
Yeah i'm conflicted between getting this or not. My other option is the xoticpc 16f2 build your own but i've had a Asus A8JS thats served me well for 4 years and would prefer to stick with the brand esp with the warranty/design/backlit keyboard and price asus offer.
So its neutered but would still perform better than the 460M on the newegg?
Thanks for the help btw!

Go with MSI's 15" GTX 560M. That will be the normal 192 bit Memory. Also has better speakers that some Asus fans, I think laughably give so much whining time over... The MSI also has a superior keyboard designed by Steel which allows for your own custom lighting similar to Alienware. Through XoticPC you can get an upgraded matte LCD.
Overall for 2011, the MSI 15" notebooks are much better than what Asus is offering. I'd say the same for 17". Even though MSI doesn't have a dual fan system, their dual venting, extra large fans and radiators do an even better job than Asus dual fan system. I'd only go with Asus if you REALLY care about the design and possibly for quieter fans.
Foe everything else, MSI > Asus for 2011. Better keyboard, better GPU (normal stock vs retarded Asus MXM - If it's even MXM...), MSI I haven't heard of any touchpad issues, better cooling, better crappy laptop speakers shouldn't be using anyway, and far more ports. MSI doesn't screw you over with ports, you get them all as you should expect for that price.
MSI warranty is the same, they provide accidental and 2 year coverage etc. And best of all, MSI built their notebooks believing those buying it may be enthusiasts aren't retarded. So this allows you for easily upgrade and maintenance, unlike Asus design is an absolute torture to do anything.
You can guess which brand I'll be switching to when the 28nm GPUs are out, it's not Asus. When I buy MXM, I want MXM, not some inferior mutant crap because Asus are too cheap. I want to be able to access the fans, radiators, heatsinks, everything easily. And the Asus keyboard and touchpads have been less than satisfactory. And of course, I want the damn ports at that price! Unless for some reason Clevo decides to stop making retarded keyboards and get on board that a laptop can be powerful and be portable... battery life... something I hope MSI will improve on next round as well, although thought they do support switchable graphics.
- My 2012 dream would be a Sager 17" with matte 1080p, 28nm Nvidia (Optimus > AMD Switchable), i7 Ivy Bridge, 9 cell battery (5 hour battery + while watching movie and surfing) + backlit keyboard that doesn't have Clevo's current retarded layout. -
That wouldn't be the case through Xoticpc would it using the 16f2? their warranty would be used not through MSI. My other option was the i5 paired with the 560M there. Been told the i7 is somewhat wasted at present and a higher clocked i5 is a better option.
By ports you mean number/placement/speed? USB3 or something else?
Cheers! -

It looks like they may have the model mislabeled on their site (I'm wondering if it is supposed to be the XN1 or something of that nature). If you look at the specs, it has a slower hard drive than the A1, less memory, and the shortened 1 year warranty.
It looks like they have the correct G53SX-A1 here. -
a1 should get the bag and mouse also where the xn wont
though looks like a good deal, if you don't need the extras
-
confirmed with Amazon, its a 5400 drive. Also no bag or mouse. Drive can be upgraded and 5400 shifted to second bay for storage I suppose
Torn on this one... -
I bought a G53SW for the 192bit.

Wise choice
ASUS G53SX-A1 on Amazon, why so cheap?
