I realize that this model has had many problems with the headphone jack and sound in the past but I couldn't find anything that fit my exact scenario so here I am asking for help. My G60JX is a couple years old and we've been through a lot.

Lately I was getting system freezes which would only occur while audio was playing and I would have to do a hard reset to get it working again. These freezes had been happening quite frequently lately so I downloaded Uniblue DriverScan to make sure my drives were fully updated. After restarting my laptop with the new drivers, I had no audio.

I've plugged in all kinds of headphones and when I looked up the playback devices in Sound the "Speakers" say they are not plugged in while my two viable options are "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)" and "Digital Audio (HDMI)". The default device is the latter but even when switching between the two I haven't had any luck. Most other people with a similar problem was relating to their audio jack but even headphones haven't worked for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
