just ordered a new motherboard for it. when i assembled the components and power tested it, it comes on and then shuts off right away. if i pull out the GPU (MXM 260GTX) it stays on but no POST.. the old board would not power on at all, it just shut off the AC adapter (short maybe?). Do you think the MXM 260GTX card could be faulty?.. anyone else had this same problem? if its the Gfx card, im going to part it out, im not spending 300$+ dollars on it... thanks.

My money is on card fella did you test the old board without the GPU in to make sure it was actually the board? I would say from personal blowing things up experience that my GPU's die long before the board itself does when I have been messing about with it.
Especially as you mention it posts without the GPU in unless there is a faulty connection from the GPU to MXM slot I reckon bad GPU.
99% sure. The other 1% is drunk and dreaming of a russian broad. -
the old board when any adapter was plugged into it, the adapter's power whould shut off right away. i suspected the Dc jack or mb was at fault, and replaced the board. i tried the old board with all the other stuff out, same thing, AC adapter would just shut off right away... Im not ready to spend money on a GPU (i'd have 500$ in this thing if i do ). Its probably going on eBay. thanks for your help

Hate it when you spend out money to repair something and it does not result in success. If the 260M GTX was worth it I would say yes but your right best to stick her on Ebay and accept that fate has decided you need a new rig.
Might I recommend the new PEM versions of the Sager/Clevo if you are looking for a good deal on a high end model. Best bang for buck.
If I had not jumped the gun I would certainly have gone for one, the new backlit keyboard is top notch as well.
