    hello everyone ,

i just ordered the ASUS G72GX-RBBX05 laptop from newegg 2 days ago and it will ship on thursday ,

i just wanted to ask will this laptop run call of duty black ops perfectly without overheating ,

cuz my old gateway m-6864 fx laptop used to overheat every 15~20 min of playing modern warfare 2 ,

so i bought this laptop to play mw2 and black ops on high settings without overheating , did i make the right choice ?

is there anything i can do when i get this laptop , like updateing the bios or video card driver ?

can i overclock it without making it overheat ( safe overclock) ?

EDIT : forget to say the spec of the laptop , but here it is :

    Intel Core 2 Duo P8700(2.53GHz)

    6GB DDR2

    500GB HDD

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M 1GB DDR3

    thanks.

gtx 260m in that case will run a little hot on COD. but if black ops runs on the same engine as the last few games, i dont see why you shouldnt be able to get good frame rates.

naturally update your drivers when you first get the laptop to the most recent, and you should be fine.

overclocking is dodgy on those, depends if you get one with a cool running card or not. In my g71, the 260m it came with was downclocked by asus to run cooler, but most people "overclocked" it back to stock settings safely.

I have the same laptop that you ordered and play MW2 with all settings maxed @1600x900 (native resolution) without any kind of trouble with factory default GPU settings. I never go over 67 °C on my GPU while playing.

Get a laptop cooler. Drill holes in the bottom of the case. Use copper shims. You'll be fine.

    oh. and repaste.

what about the FPS in modern warfare 2 ? is it smooth ? , do you run it with anti-aliasin and/or v-sync ?

does it overheat or BSOD ?

    eXpert,

I was wondering if you got your asus g72gx and how it performs. I am considering ordering it but am a little concerned because it is only available refurbished. I also am looking at it on newegg.
