Hi All,
I am worried about my laptop because I bought the thing, then I also bought the processor and I'd really hate to wast the money I spent...
My computer:
ASUS G72gx (Purchased from Best buy)
Origional Processor: INTEL CCore 2 Duo P8700
Graphics: nVIDIA GTX 260m CUDA 1 GB Dedicated
RAM: 6 GB
I went and bought the X9100 Processor and installed it and all is great
Till this issue I posted here but I'd like to also try and post here to see if anyone here also, happens to know how I can fix this issue, I'd be greatly appreaciative, because it would save me lots of money!![]()
X9100 Intel Dual in ASUS G72gx, Win7 64-Bit, ISSUE?? - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net
This is a thread I read up on and seems the most knowledgable from what I can find:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/533702-g72gx-cpu-upgrade.html
Basically, I am happy I have the processor, but I am very worried I might have damaged something...
Aside from that issue I posted on the overclock.net forms a while ago it has been running great, its temps are all great too, I just want to make sure I didn't accidently do something wrong...
I'm open to all suggestions and discussions, also I havent tried undervolting/setting the mutlipier, is the mutiplier on the X9100 Processors unlocked? or only the custome ones unlocked? because I'm still getting a few conflicting stories from forms and the sellers with that...
Thankz for all the help!![]()

You can change the multi with this:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...unlock-core-2-extreme-multiplier-windows.html
You can even keep the CPU at it's max frequency while on battery power by using that same software.
Disable SLFM, C states and power saver using throttlestop. -
Yeah use throttle stop for overclocking. The mulitpliers are unlocked and throttle stop will let you take advantage of that. I don't think anything is wrong with your CPU.
-
wow that just simplifies throtlestop for me.
I'm glad to hear that theirs a great chance the CPU is unharmed.
What about my motherboard, do you think the viltage being a bit higher could have fried something? or higher wattage done that? but it would have black screened me perminantly if something like that broken, wouldn't it have?
I'm trying to see if my battery actually is being retarted, and broke so that it does that issue I have...
idk, I just got free time so I'm going to play with throtle stop and also see if it might help if i lower my voltage from 1.2 to 1.1 but I'm still not getting correct responses there, CPU-Z still shows 1.2 voltage...rofl
rofl
I just realized throtlestop can change voltages...
I was trying to make some other thing work, nevermind that, this changed me mutiplier and voltage!!
gona test now and see what happens when i go from AC to battery, hoping their is no problems... -
I restarted on battery and is working great, I'm going to let it run the battery down... before i test to see if I still have the issue again...
I went to 1.1 volts and got the bsod...fail
so the lowest I went is 1.2-1.3 volts...
hope it works!! but idk
is their a chance that the bios is not compatable with the processor?
aside from that, I'm doing this to test and make sure my battery is not broke...
how to see if my mb broke, idk... :/
I had fully discharged my battery, so the bttery is fine, i unplugged the AC cord @ batttery being 33% and the issue happened again, computer still thinks it is on AC...fail
I plugged the cord back in and still the same, never went back up in speed, and the battery shows 33% not charging...fail
But, the status light does show charging...? I'm confused... :/ -

Sounds like you do have a problem somewhere, never seen it before though.
You don't have a second battery by any chance?
Did you update your bios to the latest version? -
Unfortunatly this battery is the only one I have, but it works great! 2 hours per charge, no hastle at all...
Yah this is the latest bios I have, Version 602 from ASUS sight...
the problem is I'd like to know what the problem is and I can't figure it out...fail... :/
